What Kind Of Keyword Results Should I Look For?

So I am in the process of building my first white hat site devoted to a niche and I am in need of some help. I have just finished the WordPress theme for my site and got my domain with the major niche keyword in it. Now I am in the process of finding keywords for articles and need some help...

I have a list of 14 keywords so far with the major niche keyword in them. In this list the search results for these range from 4,000 - 65,000 and the search volume for last month is in the range of 1,000 - 12,000 and global between 700 - 10,000. Now I want to know if I am going in the right direction with my keyword research.

I myself have done some research in the white hat sections of BHW and so far I "think" I am on the right track but I really do need some opinions from the experts.

Also I am going to be writing some of these articles myself instead of outsourcing completely and want to know should I just title these articles with just the keywords or should I add some extras such as "The 10 Best [Keyword]" instead of just "[Keyword]".

I really appreciate you taking the time to post that... as I can see I am on the right track and everything seems great so far. Now it is time to get some content, a few more keywords, and start building back links and hopefully see profit within the next month
