I just started working on a project for a real estate company in India. They just booked the domain & website will be live in few days. I have to plan all seo activities for that website in which i have bit confusion about Link Building activities.

How much link i should get for a new domain or a website. As per my research i found we should not just start doing link building but we should try to get some automated links buy viral content promotion like (Youtube video creation & sharing, Blog Post Creation, Images Sharing, Guest Blogging, Article Writing, web 2.0 website submissions, Infographics etc.)

The second question in my mind is, How many links i should build every month for first three months?

As per my research & other people suggestions they told me not build more then 15-20 links in a month...

If you have any suggestions please share your ideas....

your suggestions will be appreciated...

Thanks

There are people in this forum who have posted success with adding many more links than 20 a month; like 100 a week.

15 - 20 links a month seems a little low. I would recomend that you utilise different types of links to ensure that the campaign appears natural. A good blend of directory submissions, social bookmarking, niche links, blog comments etc. will provide results. Start off slow with your link building on a new domain and ensure that your link building is steady and you are not building a large ammount of links in a glut and not perfomring link building again for a few weeks.

I would suggest starting off with directory submission. Submit to authority directories like DMOZ and Yahoo. Get some blogs going with inbound links to your website. To my knowledge, it is important for new domains to not to go for heavy link building for atleast the first 2 months, as Google Sandbox is a very likely probability in such cases.

So yeah, go easy on link building initially but not as easy as 20 links per month:D. Get a mixed link building, inclusive of social bookmarking, directory submission, blogs, same niche websites etc.

Also, analyze the total number of links of your top 10 competitors for target keywords and then decide how many you would need in order to overtake them. This would give you a fair idea of how many you links you should make in the first 2-3 months.

A suggestion though, Real Estate marketing in India is best promoted offline even to this date. Online marketing would serve as an extension of a realtor's marketing strategies, but it can never surpass offline marketing in terms of eyeball hits and delivering the message to the prospects. Road side banners, print media and radio advertisement is what works best in India for promoting Real estate and not online marketing.

Social media marketing might just help a bit, and banner advertisement in suitable websites should do well, so try adding those strategies too and offer your client a complete Internet marketing/promotion strategy rather than just SEO.

Just my 2 cents:)

Your numbers are real low and while you should start slower for a new domain you can gradually increase the numbers instead of waiting for three months. You have to remember that there are a lot of sites and backlinks being built everyday and while there is a number of links that can and will cause a manual review of your site the number is so much higher than you can reach manually or even semi-manually you really do not have to worry about it unless you are really going off the deep end.

Personally this is what I do for new sites and I have never had a problem.

1st 2 weeks 25-50 links a day average. I include at least 5 articles or web 2. pages that I can backlink as well.

2nd 2 weeks 50 links a day avg plus I start backlinking the 5 articles I posted with about 100 links a day.

2nd month 100 links a day avg plus I continue to backlink the 5 articles and add 5 more.

3rd month 100-150 links a day plus I continue to backlink the 10 articles.

After 3 months I have found you can double the numbers if you want with no issues.

Now some of this is going to depend on how many keywords you are going for and how many pages you have on your site. I usually start with about 10 related keyword target pages plus the main page. I do 80/20 on the anchor text. 80% of the links go to the targeted page and 20% go to the main page. I also try to find niches where I can build a supporting pyramid of supporting keywords. You can see my post about that Here.

If you are targeting less keywords or have a lot less pages you may want to cut the number back some.

Another thing is I very rarely worry about or even check the rankings for the first 3 months. Any rankings you see then are not something you can count on so this lets me ignore anything that is going to falsely get my hopes up and also lets me ignore any bouncing around in the serps that may happen. Once the 3 months hits things will be pretty stable and then I can look and see exactly what I need to do for my initial keywords and if it is time to add more.

Just build yourself a good base for three months and then decide what you need to do to adjust you attack on each keyword you are targeting. It seriously keeps down the "Oh my God What Happened to my rankings" thoughts and posts. Everything you see the first 3 months is smoke anyway so just keep working at it and ignore what you see during that period and you do fine without all the stress.

Thanks for this these suggestions. please below my comments in reply.

1. Yes i have started a blog which i'll use to write some good articles & i'll also do social bookmarking for those articles because i have power accounts on most of the famous social bookmarking sites like digg, stumbleupon, mixx etc.

2. We are also doing social bookmarking, directory submissions & articles submissions.

3. We have separate team for offline marketing so that should not be an issue for them.

4. I am also going to do PPC camp, Facebook ads, Banner ads, & email marketing as well.

So it's like complete online marketing but my main concern was link building.

i was just confused but i got the answer with you reply. Thanks for these great suggestions.
