Hi BHW, A little while ago, I posted a thread (https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/c...doesnt-just-tighten-up-follow-filters.883983/) that asked why Instagram didn't tighten up follow filters to stop spammers. The answer I got (that I'm still convinced by) is that many people who are not marketers use the Instagram follow method to get followers, so cracking down on it would make IG lose a large amount of their user base. However, Twitter cracked down on the follow method and they're still going strong. Doing follow/unfollow is almost impossible on Twitter because of ghosting. So obviously Twitter and Instagram are billion dollar companies. Because of this it is true that, in general, everything they do will be in their best financial interest, executed optimally. If this is the case, why would billion dollar company Twitter choose to crack down on follow/unfollow while Instagram let's people continue doing it? If the actions of mega-corporations are based off of the hard data and logical deduction of some of the best minds in the world, why would 2 companies in the exact same position in relation to spam take 2 drastically different actions? What am I missing?
