This showed me that I share similar views on what it means to be valuable as my friend. Perhaps I see the world differently since my daily life reminds me that everything can end...

    ...just like that.

We find ourselves wishing others understood this, but without something to actually shock you; to remind us that objects and money are only as precious as we believe they are -
naturally everyone continues chasing happiness in the form of paper.
My friend shared this with me:

"We are in a world where everything, including ourselves, must have some measurable monetary value. Commonly in the form of skills and abilities. It's difficult to find somebody doing something for no gain. No money, tangible items, not even verbal appreciation. It makes sense right? Why would somebody do something for nothing?
That's stupid...right? I'm happy to confess that's not the case for me".

We went on discussing that many times, people will argue you're wasting your energy and time, helping others for nothing in return.
Those people I pity - and remember being just like them earlier in life.

Sure what we do puts food on our tables, but why do we do it to begin with? Every "job" can earn money so why do something in particular?
Because we love it. Because we gain joy seeing people smile at our deeds. You that do not feel this way in your line of work...please find your happiness. It's not far away.

You won't always be treated fairly. You won't always be thanked like you should. People will undervalue you more often than not. Being an artist, I know this all too well.
That is where the money is never enough - your love for your craft is stronger than currency & reminds us of what we obtain.

Doing something meaningful for this Planet because you are a great person, not because others say nice words about you.
An abandoned kitten you rescue won't say Thank You...but she will love you eternally for saving her from certain death. She gained everything thanks to you.
