It seems that more and more domain registrars are charging VAT for domain names to EU Customers. This is taking the piss, why should I pay VAT for a virtual product/service, that's just bullshit. It all sums up when you've got quite a few domains. I think it might be cheaper to rent out a US address in the long run.

Registered companies are forced to charge vat to people living in europe. If I am correct only europe based companies charge vat for european customers

How many domains are you registering a year? A u.s. address is at the minimum $38 per year.

I know this. Some US based registrars have also become EU based. I just hope that Namecheap doesn't become EU based anytime soon.

I've got quite a few domains, most of them are ones that I don't use but they are very valuable to me otherwise I wouldn't be buying them. I just don't have the time/plan/money to get them running at the moment but I seriously need to get a move on because otherwise I will just be wasting money on renewal fees. Once I start using them VAT won't be much of a problem but a US address at $38 per year would save me a few bucks during the year. It just pisses me off that I'm paying an additional VAT fee to the fee of the domain. The goverment just adds tax to everything they can. One day they will tax us for scratching our butts.

.info sucks :| but it's definitely cheaper. Just saying. :)
