I am new to internet marketing but i wanted to get started making youtube videos on how to download free stuff and link a ppd program such as clean files. When i applied it says i have to confirm my website. I am guessing this is my landing page. I dont have one and i didnt think i needed one. I was just going to put the link of the download in the description of the youtube video so when they click on it they have to complete a survey and then download it? im confused

Double check if the "my website" field is/isn't optional.

Landing pages in all parts of IM (not just PPD) are used to better conversions. They do this as they help sell the traffic and give them a better viewing of what you're trying to sell. Landing pages pretty much hold their hands until they get to whatever you want them to fill out.

Well, landing page have more uses. You can use is to improve the conversation rate, by adding some content videos, or pictures, what can get the visitor more exited about the offer. Also it's used to collect e-mails yourself to earn even more afterwards. But the most important thing is that you can collect lot more data.
The best is to use it for all three reasons. Presell + Collect his e-mail + collect data.

Simply put, a landing page is a web page with the purpose of getting the visitor to perform an action. It could be to sign up to a list, click a link, buy something, call a number, or whatever.

They typically have limited elements to distract the person from doing something else. An example would be a squeeze page which is a simple type of landing page used to capture someone's email address for an email list.

Your goal is not to get them to look through your site for more info but to perform that action.

The company you're working with may want to see that you have a legit site and that you're not just spamming links everywhere.

If you don't have a site one of the easiest ways to get a site is buy a domain, find someone in your niche, rip their site, change the content and put it up for show. You don't have to use it, it's just to show affiliate companies that you are legit.
