They will either increase your rankings or not do anything. That's it.

They won't ever hurt your sites.

Use profiles as part of your backlinking. If one source of backlinks becomes worthless, you have more to fall back on.

Backlinks can never hurt your sites anyhow no matter what the quality of backlinks are. If using profile backlinks and submissions through softwares is not natural and blackhat then i wonder if its possible for any site to grow beyond a certain level without building links manually but naturally. Even if you get backlinks from the crappiest spammiest site on earth it won't make your SERPs go down atleast as external factors just give your site a plus point in search engines but no negative marking is there.

As for Profile links I don't think they are worthless, but I also don't think they are worth much in the long term.
One Way back links will always be king:D

Only profile links will not work for long run. You need all sorts of methods to build links. So angelas and terry type profiles will have value.

Profile links have no future because they are already a part of the past.

I found a site by accident that has a PR5 from the page you can build profile links. I think theres something wrong with the programming however this glitch helps any of my sites fly to the top.

Its the N.A pages that are worthless...if you look around some inner pages can add page rank too. :)

Would you not do it if doing it "might" help your rankings?
Rather do something and fail than not do anything.

Deep down I think most of us realise link building with profile links and high PR links is not the way to go. But, I admit I have had much success with profile links but this seems to be dwinderling of late - is Google getting smartER?

Posting a link on a high PR page can't harm your site right? I'm not too sure. I recently tested this method and my site dropped from position 45 to 97 in 2 days and this was the only link building change I made. What I was aware of anyway.

Link building with the use of profile link etc will become a thing of the pass. You want my opinion, social is the answer. You cannot fake 1000 retweets or 1000 Diggs quite as easy as you can place a high PR blog comment link or create 200 spam profiles.

How we go about getting these links is the difficult part, maybe the search will go back to how it was meant to be and the most popular sites will float to the top. Not the sites which have had their rating artificially increased.

    Thats all for now....

Note to Self: Must start a blog to put this stuff in....maybe next month.

I would like to echo findings from the OP's post.

I run an e-commerce site in a nation wide mid level competition niche.

Rankings for keywords can climb and climb and climb with zero backlinking. I have had certain product pages and blog pages hit #1 days after creation, stay there for a few weeks, and the slide down the SERPS over a period of a month.

Backlinks are absolute gold, and an important part of SEO, but they are not 100% essential for ranking on keywords, especially 3-5 word phrases.

This is assuming you have platinum on page SEO of course.

On the profile links topic. SEO is the art of making Google think a web page is more relevant than it really is. Profile linking a well known tactic by Google, so I have no doubt there are provisions in its algorithm to significantly diminish its importance.

Technology always evolve but nothing go absolute... They just adapt to new version...

Profile link works but same logic appaers. You get N/A back link ( although it will carry more juice because of domain trust). There are lots of factors when you getting juice from them like niche, domain age, outgoing links, neighborhood, PR blah blah...

When you work for ranking you do lots of things only profile links will not get ranking...

I guess they will not loose their importance but mixed linking is the way to go.

I think only profile links can't make a big change in your position.
Profile links are helpful and always stay for long run.
But you have to make all sorts of backlinks to get in top of Google or other search rankings.

The only way to tell if profile links work is to use them yourself. Don't rely on heresay to make business decisions.

I think that Angela's links is a stupid idea. Why would I sit on my computer and do that crap manually? Use a software to automate it. You're not a freaking robot - you're a marketer.

Sick Submitter is a software that costs $20/month and that is a lot more affordable than getting angelas links and pauls links + doing it manually.
