Another noob question! I noticed several fiverr gigs selling social media signals. Can anyone explain to me what is the fuss about social media signal? How is it useful for my SEO? Thanks :)

It'll *bump* some results. Paying someone 5 bucks once however isn't going to lead to long term ranking.

If you find the right gigs on fiverr they can be highly beneficial. I found a pretty good gig on there doing 5200 real fb likes for $25 per gig. This helped greatly for my sites seo, did this with a couple gigs I found that offered 10 pr 9 backlinks and 210 edu links. Golden! Pm me and I can send you the links. (Disclaimer: They are not my gigs nor am I promoting them, I'm simply sharing them with you to possibly save you some money in the future from weeding out bad gigs vs good gigs.)

    Dienummer,

Search engines are paying increasingly closer attention to how people find information online and how their social networks are impacting that process. You can see their attempts in things like Google's personalized search. When you are logged into a Google account and are active on Google Plus, you will notice that search results that normally wouldn't appear are appearing because they were interacted with by a member of your network. Some are saying that content getting likes on Facebook, being tweeted, or shared on other social networks is having an impact in search results as well. The basic idea being that if someone in your network thought the content was useful, then maybe you will too.

Here is an article on plus 1's impacting Google results,

Social signal is one factor among 200 other factors of Google SEO... so you need to work on other factors too..

Sites without social signal are also ranking, there is no hard and fast rule..

    Interesting. PM-ed you.
Is there such thing like "real" or "fake" Facebook likes? I thought all of them are the same...
