No.of indexed pages and posts used to be a ranking factor earlier. There is no particular rule of thumb for this. Depending on the niche, I publish around 30-50 posts to keep the readers engaged.

Write articles with long tail keyword who has not too much competition and you will rank for that keyword

obviously that you need have articles on your website! You want to direct traffic for a blank website? I'm joking of course, because you must have at least one article! Article should be optimized perfectly... You can find info how to optimize content without any problem. Then you should obtain some nice links... Of course this info is how to start, not for whole seo way.

First step is keyword research and on-page optimisation. If you are in a everage-competition niche you should make your site get in to 100 position by low volume keys by your onpage factors only. This will be great sign rhat you've done a good job. So- unique titles, description, h1, content is a MUST HAVE for fresh site.

First step is keyword research. Choose low competition keyword for start... then find long tails for your keyword
Build Foundation by selecting your focused keyword...
Write Title based on your focus keyword... Then write a short description... Before writing description think what you are going to write in the main content body?
It's the foundation then build your post on your foundation... Do it right do it twice...
