    Hello,
I've created an authority site. Right now it has 10 articles and all of them are targeting one or two keywords. It has just a small amount of social bookmarks as backlinks.
I wanted to start 10 free blogs(like blogspot, tumblr, etc) to link to my site. So I wrote 50 articles (5 for every blog). Articles are in the niche but not keyword targeted.

And now is where I'm looking for advice.
What is better - start the small blogs to get some backlinks or simply post the articles to my authority site to get more content, pages and authority?

Good God man, I would not post the originals to 50 hand written articles out into the 2.0 ozone. Spin them into something decent but different. Keep the original good versions for your site. Link back to that with the lesser versions of the articles but I would post the orig up before the tumblers and such if there is much similarity so your main site gets the credit for all the work. Get some automated tools and backlink the crap out of the outer tier sites.

That's a great start! I was in a similar situation not too long ago, and I decided to keep the best articles for my authority site. I used the rest for web 2.0's like weebly, tumblr, blogspot, wordpress, etc.. the results were good and all the backlinks were recognized by Webmaster Tools in no time, so Google obviously catches on to these backlinks quick. It's best to build up content if you really want to create an authority site that gets a ton of traffic, so whatever you do, post the majority of it on your authority site. If you got a good domain and stay consistant, then it will pay off more than web 2.0's... but I really like SuiteTieLies answer - its not an exact science, do what you feel is right for your site.

I would personally post them on the authority site. I know it seems like a bad idea but if all of the articles are related (and keyword oriented) you will increase the relevance of your site and the long tail keywords you target. But hey that's just me

    I love this part :D.

The answer to your question: You should post firstly to your "authority" site, then make links to them from blogs, using the spinned version. (aim on at least 80% uniqueness)
