The only way to guarantee that you won't be on an oversold host, is to get your own dedicated server with your own dedicated pipe.

That said, what do you mean you have issues with speed?

There could be so many reasons for that, and the specific host that you have is just a small (20%?) percentage of those reasons..

Could be the CMS you have. Plugins. The theme. Images. CSS + Javascript (blocking JS scripts are responsible for many 'slow' sites). The page sizes. Too many requests per page? Where your server is located (ping times). Could be a bandwidth issue ... either out of the server, or into your computer. Even on the server itself ... is it a disk IO issue (need more RAM?), are you maxing out the processors.

I could go on, but I hope you get the picture. Tuning a site for 'speed' depends on so many variables

if you run into speed problems with *every* host, then chances are the problem is not with the host, but with your particular setup.

And even before you run into swopping hosts, or getting a CDN, you need to be very sure about what the current speed issues are.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunatly i wish it was something simple on my end but im pretty up on computers myself and i have tested 4 hosts so far (netfirms, hostgator, hostwinds and bluehost) on there cheapest options with just a basic landing page and 1 domain but the site takes a good 4-7 sec to load and its nothing to do with my internet as i have a solid 120mb and never have any problems with other sites.

I am willing to move to dedicated hosting but i just thought i would post and see if anybody knew of a really good cheap host that doesent chuck you onto a server with too many people

the speed depends a lot on your location/network so you should take in the country where you are targeting your visitors
