If I scrape my competitors backlinks for my niche what would be the best way to comment on them?

If there will be a few I'm thinking manual wouldn't be too viable.

I was thinking maybe a hybrid...

Since I know it is in the same niche, and I am knowledgeable in the niche, I could write a good comment specific to the niche yet vague enough to be relevant to all.

I scrape my competitors backlinks, sort them by PR, toss them in a custom do-follow program too find the high PR do-follows...and start commenting or requesting backlinks in as many places that will grant me a backlink.

    So far so good....

OP, if you can "write a good comment specific to the niche yet vague enough to be relevant to all", I think going automated is the way to go. I don't see any benefit from manual assistance if you've got it covered.

Manual Commenting is the best way to go if Successful commenting is what you are aiming for.

I would automate the process of filtering out the links. Finding them, check for do-follows, check the link page's value (i.e. with seo spyglass which has a good estimation value detector for this). And then end up with a high quality list to build manual comments on through a proper period of time.

It's whitehat, but it will definately work and not be that hard if you just go for the quality.

Then you can do some automated commenting or whatever blasts on low-value link pages.
