Ask your website hosts - you can also move the files your self setup emal and create empty database in new hosting cpanel and ask webhosts to just move the database in the empty database you have created in the new cpanel.

    1. Backup Buddy.
    2. CPanel > Database backup. (most WHM CPanel hosts have this option. If not sure, ask your host)
When moving to the new sites, just ask your host to recreate the site from the backup files.

If you got fatal error, it is possible because you installed it through the uploader in wp, try to upload it with ftp.

If you are confident in playing around in cpanel, you can do it yourself.

Set a cron job for making a copy of all of your site and compress it to zip.
Set a cron job to make a backup of all your database and compress it as well.

    Make a google search with:
How to Schedule Database Backup Using Cron Job

if you want to know how to do it step by step.

    Hello mate,

    1. For tools like WP Twin (and Backup Buddy) to work, your host needs to have specific PHP functions enabled on the server.

Check whether the hosting server (e.g. email your host) has the following PHP functions enabled:
    passthru(), system() and exec().

    2. If they are not enabled; for example, one host I know will not enable them for security reasons, then you will get errors. In this case, the other option as mentioned above is to use CPanel > Backups.

    3. If you have a licensed copy of Backup Buddy then contact their support about the errors.

    4. If you don't have a CPanel - learn from this and get one next time.
    (i) Ask your host to do a backup, and/or;
(ii) Make a backup copy of the WP MySQL database and all files.

    Good luck.

ok I got the right backup buddy working, and it made a zip file. Now I logged into the new wordpress site, and I installed bb there.

I'm trying to figure out how to restore the zip backup on the new site? The dropbox method never showed up, and I registered and everything.

you dont need to install wp on the new domain, just make a mysql database.

upload the backup and the importbuddy.php and go to yourdomain.com/importbuddy.php.

Anybody can help me out here with backup buddy:

    - I made a zipped backup, made a subdomain of the site I want.
    - I dragged the zipped backup and importbuddy.php in the website's folder.

I am confused with the mysql database part. I am using my friends hg account and there are other sites.

Can someone help me on how to do this? I know what to do after I setup the mysql database.

you need a plain new database without tables with same name and user attached password also same as in the bkp zip
    create new if not exist
or drop all tables of the existing database

If you're using cpanel, go to mysqladmin at your old web host, and find the database. Export it to a sql file and save to disk. (most web hosts use mysqladmin anyway, just ask how to access it)

Then download the entire site with ftp. You could just download your wp-content directory (has your themes and uploaded files), but easier to download with ftp. I recommend filezilla.

Then head over to your new web host. Add the domain in the control panel. Upload the files using ftp. Set up a new database using whatever wizard you have available. You'll probably need to write down the database name, database user's name, and the database user's password. Import the sql file you created above.

Then edit the wp-config.php file to have the new database, user and password you wrote down above. Filezilla lets you right click on a file to edit it. When you click save, filezilla will ask if you want to upload your changes.

Your website should be set up now if you did everything right.

However, it's not going to show up yet. You still have to switch the name servers.

I recommend checking things first. I usually edit my hosts file (On windows it's something like C:\windows\drivers\system32\etc\hosts) to have the ip address of the new server (you may be able to find it by running ping on an existing site on that server, otherwise not sure how you'd find it. Ask?)

    Make an entry:
    123.123.123.123 domainname.com
Where 123.123.123.123 is the ip address of your new server, and if I have to explain what domainname.com is, just slap yourself silly and give up. There's no hope.

In windows run from the command line ipconfig /flushdns. You'll then be able to see your site on the new server, even though it's actually live on the old server. The hosts file thing is just to trick your web browser to go someplace other than where your DNS is pointing.

If everything's cool, go to your registrar and change the DNS to your new host. It'll take about 3 hours to swap over.

Then cancel your old hosting. You're done.

Google anything you don't understand please. I'm not going to tell you what DNS is, or how to get a command line, etc.

I think now it should be solved or just do everything manually, leave backup buddy for kids.
