Hey everyone,

I have a lot of free time on my hands and am looking to put in a ton of time to learn a new skill and eventually make it my career, and I would love some input from all of you lovely members!

What am I looking for in a career?
1. The ability to work remotely
2. The ability to be my own boss and set my own hours
3. Something that's highly scalable

In terms of what sort of income I'm looking for: I would honestly be happy if it could net 50-100k annually and be fully remote. 100k+ would be cool but isn't necessary, but that's where the desire for something scalable comes in (so that earning potential can keep growing as time goes on).

Right now I'm currently between focusing specifically on paid ads and SEO, or coding, but would love to hear everyone's thoughts on what they think is the best job in digital marketing in terms of scalability and earning potential. Paid ads/SEO is my current front runner, as I feel like if I become REALLY good at driving traffic I can make a ton of money off of affiliate marketing, and that it will always be an in-demand service.

Thanks, everyone in advance! I look forward to hearing everyone's opinions!

Are you looking for a money-making guide? Or something more "meta" such as organizing your time, projects, etc.?

Any business related skill can yield you good money if executed correctly - remotely or not.

Is flipping stuff online a skill to you? Trading stocks? Or do you want answers like "learn to program"?
What is your current SKILLset? You mentioned coding, SEO, and driving traffic - What precisely? What languages? What is your current annual income doing what you do? What stops you from scaling it?

I believe that having expertise in any particular field will help you make money. Some good fields to start with include Coding, Web design, web development, graphic design, video editing, providing consulting services etc.

My current income is quite high, but that's coming to an end soon. It's not something that's scalable.

Languages I'd be interested in would be Python, C##, Java.

I think the most ideal skillset to develop would have high income potential that becomes higher and higher as time goes on without working more and more hours. And yes, I agree, most things are scalable :)

Current skillset: management experience, some social media marketing, a good bit of technical analysis (trading), great with math/numbers/data, good with critical thinking and analysis.

Programming is always scalable because there’s always something new to learn to add to your resume/portfolio.

Python and JavaScript are the easiest to learn of the C based languages. There are quite a few tutorials online that I’ve found well put together. Here are a couple of those:

4 hour tutorial from FreeCodeCamp:

6 hour tutorial from Programming with Mosh:

Data science concepts you should know:

Data structures & algorithms:

Git tutorial:

SQL Database Tutorial:

This should get you started.

Thanks for all the info mate

My definition of scalability revolves around online marketing. I am doing this business since past many years and I know I can scale it in future.

However this might not be the answer for you.

Hence it all depends upon you to decide whether learning programming will work for you or jumping into online marketing (SEO or Social Media Marketing) will do!
