I'm planning to start a new website which has only 1 competitor so far. I bought the domain and set it up today, so my question is. What is the best way to currently this ranked in google?

Obviously regular SEO and link building would probably get it sandboxed in no time. What 'first steps' do you take for new websites?

    Home Page:
write a good content, update it regularly, after 2 or 3 months, start building backlinks, then increase it month by month. after 6 months, just bomb it with everything you got :), but let the search engine find it naturally.

just keep in mind, googl3 wont sandbox every new website you know? then even if googl3 did, sandbox is not the end of everything :),

    cheers and goodluck.

    1. Make sure your onpage SEO and site structure are good.
    2. Your content should be unique and keyword optimized.
    3. Build high quality backlinks from related, authority sites.

    Good suggestions. In addition:

Continue to add content over time.

Start building links right away but slowly. Then pick up the pace over time.
