I personally have used both of these free versions. I actually just started using Rank Math recently and I like it better. It has a little more features than Yoast does and seems to work well. I'm sure the paid version gives you much more features. I just don't really need to pay for that stuff at the moment.

You Don't Need a Super Fancy SEO Plugin with Many features, Basic are good enough, and I found rank math Worth Installing.

Rankings Depends On Your Effort for On Page, OFF Page and technical SEO, not The Plugin you have.

The ideal choice is the one that feels most comfortable. I experimented with various options and settled on Yoast and Rankmath. Despite my efforts, I couldn't quite warm up to The SEO Framework,
 
Yoast, simple and intuitive. Not that heavy on the tehnical side, but has lot of features.
I dont use half of it lol, but what i use i can quickly implement
 
Rank Math has really many bugs in each update -i mean i remember when all redirections just disappear. I know it has many features and some are cool, like shema markups - but even them are sometimes buggy and a mess to deal with. The funny thing: most people are just not aware of the bugs :D

SEO Framework is super fast and works on EACH UPDATE great. If i would start a new website=seo framework.
 
There's Squirrly SEO too if you want the whole enchilada for cheap.
 
Yoast SEO, All in One SEO Pack, Rank Math, and SEOPress are the top SEO plugins for WordPress.

I am prefer Yoast and using it for many years.
I've tried RankMath but errors apppeared, when publish or save draft all RankMath settings gone
 
In my experience, Rank Math and Yoast are some of the best SEO plugins.
