The best horror film I've ever seen started out with this girl who had been kept inside of her village her entire life because the rest of the world was a frozen wasteland. However, she had always felt like there was something in that frozen wasteland calling to her. So she made an attempt to venture outside of her village, when all of the sudden frostbite got the best of her.

She ends up in the hospital shortly after, but once she recovers, she ventured outside of her village once more, this time well-prepared for the cold weather. After a while, she stumbles on this race of frozen people and it turns out that she has a twin sister. So she brought her sister back to her village, some stuff happens that brings about this deadly snow storm, and she puts everyone in danger. I don't want to spoil the whole movie for you, but let's just say it's magical.

It was called "Secret of the Wings".

Insidious (all of them) are fucking INSANE when comes to great story and perfect scary moments. Just read a bit about lucid dreaming and astral projection, u'll LOVE IT.

Silent Hill #1. Slow, sometimes boring, but for me, it is the best movie adaptation of a game.

I know they gradually got worse in most peoples' opinion, but I loved the Saw series. Also the Rec films are good if you can manage subs.

Interested in this. I do like horror films but can't find any decent ones these days.

Not that the old ones were any better with the intended final victim running through a house with options of going through the front/back door or up the stairs. They always chose the stairs for some reason as the doors always had a chain on and of course the victim had no idea how to remove it!!:p

I did like the ring and I am told the japanese original as @jazzc posted is even creepier but never got round to watching it.
