What is duplicate content? It seems pretty obvious, but?

Is duplicate content having 4 or 5 articles on your website that are different but cover basically the same topic? These are not TBS spins of the same article, they are clearly different but, how many times do I get to rehash the same topic before Google gets excited about this? What happens when your niche has reached about 100 pages and you have run out of long tail keywords to pursue? Should I just look for one or two interesting topics a week to post on my site and spend the rest of my time spinning content and posting it via Ultimate Demon.

What does a blogger do when they need to promote their site but, decent content is getting harder and harder to find? Is one or two posts a week enough and how do they promote their site. Is it OK to keep churning out good articles that say the same things and placing them on about 30 or 40 Web 2.0, Wiki, and Article sites.

I'm running out of stuff to say.

You should be fine if your articles are about the same topic but are unique from one another. I wouldn't post a bunch of articles that are exactly the same across a bunch of different sites. That's just asking for trouble.
If your articles pass copyscape you should be good to go.

Actually there is a lot of confusion on dup content. Duplicate content is when you have multiple pages on YOUR website with exactly or almost exactly the same content. This is usually the case with ecommerce websites where the catalog pages are visible with different parameters like "ascending order" or "limit=30" .. google is like "wtf.. its the same page x 3..."

In the case of blogs, its more like if you have categories, and tags, and links, and this, and that.. and actually they are all showing the same articles/page/content. You can use canonical tags to indicate to google which one you want Google to focus on and rank, and which ones Google can forget about.

I have a streaming website that uses stuff like "watch south park episode 1 online", "watch south park episode 2 online" for 15 seasons. No problems with duplicate content on any of my streaming sites.

If I spin something I like to spin it myself using TBS and I like to use it on maybe 30 or so sites and then I am done with it. It passes copyscape and the TBS copy check too. Maybe what I can do is sign up for some Google alerts, right a response to new developments in my field and post it on my site with a link back to the original article I can keep the quotations I take from the article to a minimum. Enough to respond to interesting points but, not enough to make it look like I just ripped the article writer off to add some more stuff to my site.
Sounds like that would be OK, new materia is getting more and more difficult to come by. Thanks to all those who replied (I hit the button too). Please let me know if you see anything wrong with the plan I laid out in this reply.

What I might suggest you is

Duplicate Glitters well than the Original one.... But some have the talent to find it ....

So..., having a duplicate content is Ok until and unless if it is not affecting your website/blog.

i haven't experienced such an issue myself.. but i assume that there should be regular news related to the niche, and in this case you can start covering Niche Related News on the website... a couple of articles a week looks perfectly fine to me...
