    Hey guys,

I need to build links that also generate direct traffic. I found many relevant discussions to my client's websites.

Let say you are a car rental company. Would you present yourself:

    a) as the company itself, acting honestly as the company itself, recommending your own services
    b) as a third party, as someone who recommends this company independently (e.g. "My cousin used this rental company and was satisfied with them.")

What do you think is a better way not only to build backlinks, but also brand awareness among the target group?

Kindly thank you for your inputs.

    It depends.
If you know the niche pretty well, you can present yourself as a company. But don't really recommend you service, use soft-selling. I prefer approaching as a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable company owner, who OWNS a service, but not pushing your service to other people's mind.
Build trust by answering question with authoritative answers, engage in meaningful discussion, and help the community member.
Try also provide free service to community members there, that will gain their trust.
Use soft-selling techniques, if you want for long-term engagement.

On the other hand, 3rd party endorsement may also work, but for short-time only.

From my point of view, i see replying as a fake user to be much easier for the amount of trust it brings... Especially if you're not 100% mastering your niche (which is almost always the case when working for a client)

By replying as a company you can easily do more harm than good

The first one could be a better way to build your brand. Be sure you know your company very well in order to promote your website online and offline.
