A friend need some cash and want to sell a site, it PR3 automotive site about 3 years old and banks £500 per week (99.9%) profit - hosting and such are the only over heads.

My question is whats it worth ? he cant or wont list ot on flippa because of the nature of the site...

If PW means Per week then it's 2000 GBP/mo. Depending on the history of the sites income, sustainability of that income level, work needed to keep it there, risk of loosing way of monetization, your friend can sell it for 20,000-32,000 GBP in my estimates.

How many hours per week does your friend spend maintaining that level of income?

Revenue just that last month keeping around £500 - before that £450 - before that £400 - you get the picture

The site is not 100% automated but - customers buy products so he deals with refunds and that type of thing.

He does the normal SEO thing - he looking to pay some big bills so he needs over 30k - does this sound about right.

If so any ideas of places to sell it.

The past 12 months NET income is the average worth of a website.

Since it just grew to £500 p/w in the last month you're talking £15,000+ but quite a bit under the £30k he needs.

dj co2, how is it worth 2.4k GBP when it makes 2k-2.5k monthly?

Well it really depends on the site, the niche, traffic sources, traffic revenue, how many hours to keep it running, the HISTORY of the site (stable income etc).

if it has just started to make the 500 a week then it needs to stabalise at the 500 or grow to get anywhere near the price he wants

Any buyer is going to want to see the last 12 months audited figures for next profit- or at least they should

Based on how you are saying the numbers have grown my guess is his average monthly net profit for the last 12 months is something like 1.2-1.5k

Based on normal projections he would be doing well to get 15k on that basis

However if he constantly hits 2k or more per month then just times monthly net times 10/12 to get the average sale price

What a retarded answer. Why do people insist on giving "advice" if they clearly haven't got a clue...

@ OP - as some of the others mentioned, what is it about the nature of the site that means it can't go on Flippa?

It's unlikely a buyer is going to pay a decent multiple if the site is questionable and finding one outside of Flippa is pretty hard unless you know what you are doing/already have contacts.

The income doesn't sound stable enough to get £30k, so tell your friend to give up on that idea now.

More realistically, if the site is shady/borderline legal then buyers will price that risk into their offer - so you're probably only looking at 3-6x the average monthly revenue...
