Suppose I invest $10000 and in an year I am able to generate $15000 in total. Is such a return realistic or just a wish? Is it even possible to think of success with an online business with only this much amount ie $10000 in an year?

No $5000 in profit in an year after investing $10000. Will it be called exceptional performance?

Invest in what business? In selling apple juice or what?
An online business. I cannot share what exactly. I am asking for what might be decent average returns for on online business presently.

Hard question, mate.
Depends so much.
Each business would give different returns. Start amazon FBA business, invest $10k and you could make $40k after a year, or you could make $100 after a year. Invest into dropshipping - same story like FBA.

But if you are asking if $5000 profits per year is good from investing $10k, I would say yeah its pretty good and totally possible.
It's 50% yearly ROI. About 5% per month. Invest $10k and make $500 per month, not so hard in my opinion.

Websites and internet properties in general are commonly sold for 24 month profits, so yeah that puts you exactly at 50% return. But you will not generate 5k on top of the 10k. Rather, at the end of 2 years you will be at 0% return, unless you sell the business.

But it's hardly passive and risk free, however there's also growth potential if you work on it. Zero risk and 100% passive investments will always give you returns only slightly above inflation or a few percent per year.

If you invest that amount in smart SEO way you can easy duplicate your money the first year and generate revenue also for more years. But Google can destroy your site with any update, so is always a risk..

Maybe is better try with paid traffic.. you make some campaigns and when u find the best roi you put bigger budget in that campaign.. another easy way to do 100% in a year if u find the right product to sell.. And risk is lower than seo cause you can stop anytime if revenue is not good

So the best money managers in the world make about 20% a year, you will be on the front cover of investment magazines but they have 10s of billions to invest. Facebook and Alphabet make a margin of around 20% as well. For a startup you can make 40% revenue growth a month but I would be surprised if you made this with PPC/SEO. Just try to build equity in the internet by going for low hanging fruit.

It is hard to give an estimate as there are too many moving parts and 'if'. We don't know what you'll do and even if someone does exactly the same, he's getting different results from what you will get. I was hesitating to invest $400 last August in one of my projects as I didn't believe much in it, but I made $12,000+ by this December. One of the best investments I did in my life.

Did this require you to spend a lot of time working on it by yourself as well or was it automated or outsourced work? You should continue to invest in the project as returns are so nice.

Funded my own idea, but I didn't invest time, except thinking about it, someone else did.

I would say if you hit $3000 at least or anything above is a decent roi.

I would say for your first online business anything between 18-28% ROI is actually really good and most important achievable

take 1 BTC now in just few months it will come to 11k or higher then withdraw your profits. Its risk but you can try ;)
good lucko

Yeah its totally achivable. 50% roi its normal imo, bit it actually depends where you are investing!

It depends on the nature of a business, it's strategy and the way it is run but it is still possible :)

To be honest, it really depends on the nature of the business.

Entirely dependant on what you invest it in.

For example, you could hire a designer from dribbble, assuming he charges you $2500 to design something nice. You could hire a developer from the marketplace here to convert that design into a WP theme. Let's say you start at 50% commission on ThemeForest. You price your item at $49 and spend some of your budget on promoting and marketing your item. If you can make 500 sales in 3, 4, 5 whatever months, which is not out of ordinary. You make $12000. That's with your commission stuck at 50%, which in reality increases as you make sales and go up the levels. So technically even more. And you probably won't have spent your entire 10,000.

Obviously, this example ignores your own eye for what your market wants. What good design is. What you think might be accepted by TF, your luck etc. But to return to your question. Yes it is possible, but as everyone already said. It depends on what you invest in.
