So my friend has launched this new site http://mediaessence.co.uk/

The problem I see here is very little unique content, it is just youtube videos so it would be hard to get any type of ranking on search engines.

What should be done? Should he create a couple of pages with better descriptions of videos or some articles or news section or something on the site?

I think using social bookmarking will be useful for this kind of website.

How about after the unique content how should the back links be created, what kind of keywords would this site rank for?

Should he just leave the site to target long-tail keywords or do on page SEO to target specific keywords?

I would directly help him but I ain't an expert at SEO implementation, even though I have a good understanding of it.

Make sure to add plenty of content and give it a better layout. Also make sure all your html on the page is in correct order. In my opinion I think Social Bookmarking would be awesome for that site :)

First of all unique content is must else G Panda will kill the site :D
Secondly do socialbookmarking but also other link building works , do some profile backlinks , blog comments etc .

Write a brief description to each video of what the video is about

>Social Bookmarking
>Forum Posting
>Article Submissions
>Directory Submissions
>Blog commenting

These are some common but powerful techniques.

As far as I know, you need content to submit on these bookmarking websites so that user can bookmark them.

But if you don't have content you have nothing to submit.

Yes, I think this is just the kind of site that could really work with social bookmarking. But I would definitely be looking towards some more unique content for the site, which I think could be news and reviews that could be tacked on to the videos themselves. At the moment there is practically no text on there at all, and nothing that cannot be found elsewhere.

If your friend has any skill as a writer, then he should review gigs, singles, albums and videos, as well as stores and bars. I'd say "bars in London" is pretty competitive, but there's some work that could be done to get it a bit of a lift in the search engine rankings.

seo would be useful but since its videos probably youtube watermarked videos aswell ?
