I have a keyword that has Low competition, 3600 global monthly searches, and 2900 local. Are those good numbers? Are they too low? What are the guidelines?

Well... it really depends on how much competition that specific keyword phrase has and also the amount of work you are willing to put forth to achieve some decent rankings for that keyword. Knowing whether or not you should aim for a specific keyword to rank is really beyond our control as there are variables such as your willingness to work, seo methods you utilize, keyword intent, etc. that come into play when ranking a keyword. I think first what you need to do is go back to the drawing board, sit down, and analyze your time as well as value then you can determine if something is worth your time to get ranked.

My keyword doesn't have much competition and I am willing to put in work to do it. I am just curious if those numbers are good for my keyword. Are those numbers too low for my keyword?

From what I read on here regarding tier based link building, you'd want to keep it under 4,000-6,000 local low-medium competition.

If you put the time in, you can achieve that goal, and then can focus on other keywords that may be harder to rank for.

the numbers you are talking about are good but before you start working on it you need to make sure that you are using the right tools to check the competition. if you are talking about competition sown on google keyowrds tool then i have to let you know that it refers to advertisers competition and not to the competition in that niche.

Like I said "Knowing whether or not you should aim for a specific keyword to rank is really beyond our control as there are variables such as your willingness to work, seo methods you utilize, keyword intent, etc. that come into play when ranking a keyword".

Without knowing what the keyword is it is really hard to tell if it would be worth it. You have to take into consideration keyword intent as well. Are people looking to buy with this keyword? If so, there should be some decent competition (usually) as well as some affiliate networks you can partner with. You want to be sure that you are going to be able to have at least 2-3 revenue streams from the site if you are aiming at a keyword with that amount of exact searches. Don't expect floods of traffic from this keyword but instead look into the long tail search phrases and rank your inner pages for those as well. Not only will that help with ranking your main keyword but it will also aid in getting you more traffic overall. So overall, the searches are not too low but you have to take into consideration those things I mentioned plus more to decide if it will be essentially worth it to build and optimize on. And, it really boils down to time. You can rank any keyword really, but is it worth your time.

Those numbers aren't bad. Just think about it, 2900 local monthly searches.

Whatever you do, just don't give out your keyword.

In order to protect it, you're going to have to do a lot of learning and do everything on your own in the beginning.

    best of luck.
