Hmmm, offer him a quicky handy job?

I dunno.... tell him you were researching this Internet marketing stuff to try to find new ways to get customers for his business. He will think you are taking innovative and will promote you.

Twist the method... add to it to fit your boss's needs/wants.

LOL. IMHO there is one software which allow single button press to switch over to another window on your pc, just let you have enough time to escape before get caught.

Simply deny it. Just say you work in your house for the google stuff. If you work in your office. Just use this application google "boss rohitab". One press it will hide all the aplications you want to hide while still running it and one press to make it appear.

Tell your Boss that you will set your desk on fire the next time he insults you. No, I would tell him you are trying to better your life and that he can be part of the problem or part of the solution. Then hug him and put your hand out to shake his. He will likely be so confused that he will never talk about it again. :D

Tell him you are addicted to BHW and just can't help it:D Last year when I used to work on a full time job, I used to visit BHW regularly. My colleagues would often ask me "What is that black and gold website you keep browsing?", lol.

I also tried doing some of the IM stuff in my spare time but then decided against it as Office time is for doing office work only- thats what I was being paid to do anyway. So when in office I concentrated only on the office tasks which was managing SEO/PPC/SMM projects for our clients.

Then a few months later I left the job and started doing IM full time. No Boss, No Office, No Worry.

Lucky for me, this is my (accidental) job, LOL.

I like NRE's idea. I always like twisting people's issues around when they're about to throw some shit at me. Just be all, "I don't feel the company is reaching its full potential customer base by constricting itself to [your current method of getting customers]. With the help of Google's tools, I am expanding our online presence into new horizons so as to acquire a new sector of customers that have always been just beyond our grasp. I was going to surprise you with this, but now you're accusing me of doing outside work on the job, so now I guess it's no longer a surprise."

    Or you can be honest:
"Yeah, I am marketing my own businesses online so I can get double the salary I get from this job and quit this place so I can work in my pajamas all day. I'll let you know when I'm getting close!"

    That's what she said.

Haha, I do most of my IM in office hours.

Heres the secret, don't taqke your lunch breaks, or your legally entitled breaks from the VDU. Put in a bit of unpaid overtime too.

Then, if ever they say anything to you, point out that you have not been recieving your legally entitled allotment of breaks, and you put in more than enough unpaid over time to cover whatever non-related work activities you do. :D
(Only really works within the EU, but you are meant to have a certain amount of breaks per day from the screen, because it is bad for you. But no employer in the EU actually provides these breaks. So, you are perfectly entitled to rest your eyes by doing something else durring the course of work. It's their fault for not providing any work releated activities for you to carry out when you feel a 'stress related migrane' coming on :D)

You got a newsletter from G and are afraid that you loose your job, just because some co-workers mentioned IM.

Enjoy your weekend and stop thinking about it.
