What if I build a new site and pointed exclusively PR8-PR9 backlinks? I was about to go to bed until I thought of trying this in the morning. I was hoping somebody here would have experience with this. Does Google penalize you for a site like that?

why not - if you have a couple of $ to spare - those pr 8 links cost around 600 - 1.5k per month per link. If you have 10k a month budget on seo youll be able to rent around 7 - 15 links per month. Lol.

yes high pr backlinks are exptremelly great but don't be closed to pr 8 and 9, you chould diversify them from all pageranks with even do-follow and no-follow , natural links are also great , be natural as you can !

I would say that wouldn't look very natural. I don't think Google monitors the PR of your backlinks though.

Don't if. Just make it and see the result. I think quality is the necessary but quantity is a must. Good lick.

Thanks for the replies guys. See, I know it will totally look unnatural but that's the whole point. I want to see what Google will do with a site that like that. My prediction is that it'll give fast results but how good, I cannot say.

Why not indeed. I was going to do it this morning but something else came up. I have to do this some other time.

I went straight to sleep as soon as posted this.

The point isn't to build naturally. I want to build a site and see what happens if I use exclusively PR 8 and 9. Never done it before so I'm interested to see the results. I posted this in the hopes that someone else has done it before. I could simply ask them what happened instead of monitoring this one site for awhile in this case study.

I agree, it won't look natural.

It's delicious. Would you like some?

    Okay.

I can't really go for quantity in this case. I'm still deciding the drip feed rate or if I should just dump it all in one go. Damn -- another question to ponder on.

From my experience, high quality links help. A few high quality links in the beginning looks natural (some great sites noticed you and want to tell others about you). But, as soon as you add too many of them, they loose value - this doesn't mean that Google will punish you, but it simply means that you will rank the same as you did before you added those extra links. And then, after you add some more links (of different types), your rankings will increase again.

This is my opinion based on my experience with high quality sites - I didn't work with PR8+ sites, I was working on blog posts from high quality sites.

Acquiring links from an actual PR8-PR9 page would probably have a dramatic impact on your rankings. Building links from authority websites with good amount of PR will give your site trust and authority. Diversify, build links slowly and keep building to maintain the link velocity.
