Yeah, i just heard a story recently about Archimedes, an old dude who lived several hundreds years ago and who was supposed to be very smart at his time.

It seems that this guy Archimedes was a great scientist, and many people were coming to him to ask him advice about different problems they were having. But one of Archimedes's friends observed that each time he was coming to visit Archimedes, the front door was very hard to open, he needed to put a lot of effort into pushing it. So he asked Archimedes : "Buddy, you are a great scientist, but yet i am amazed that your front door is so hard to be opened. Why don't you use your mechanical physics knowledge and create an easier way to open the door so that we are not supposed to put so much work and effort into opening it?" And Archimedes told him:" Each time a visitor comes to me and he push the door, there is a set of levers and ropes in place such that every time the door is open, i get 1 square meter of my land dug. Since i am getting a lot of visitors, i do not even need to pay for digging my land anymore, since each of them contribute to it by pushing hard the door."

I highly doubt that you understood my story since my english translation was kind of approximate, but the conclusion is this

-it is very good if you can make other people work for you FOR FREE
-it is even better if they do not even realize it.

Yeah, so how i implemented this? Well i will be quite frank to you. I spam youtube and i need some captchas written when i create youtube users. This work was usually outsourced to a third party.

On the other hand i just started my list building campaign (thanks to Ruck) and i get like 200-300 signs ups per day-email optins. So i thought, hey would not be cool if i ask the people to write a captcha when they are signing up for my list? And would not be even cooler if this captcha which they are supposed to write is actually a captcha coming from my youtube accounts, so that they can help me spam youtube better? Guess what, after a little bit of coding i get it done. Every time someone opts in to my list, he is asked to write a captcha. What he does not know is that the captcha he is writing is actually a captcha from youtube account creation which helps me spam youtube.

It is kinda of cool, you know like i said:
-having people working for you FOR FREE
-they do not even realize it, they think that is a normal captcha, like a security measure.

I hope this might give you some ideas guys.

cool read. this is very smart and motivational, i get the point, can i ask if english is your second language?

Second language? It is not my first language for sure, and i speak several others languages almost as well as english , but yeah you can say that english is kind of my second language.

Very good idea.

I was thinking about moving to youtube (myspace way) since myspace is not generating thousands a day like it used to. I have used the watermarking method for a few months, works pretty well, might move on to using old tactics for youtube, IE, messaging and such.

How much money are you generating a day? I use the best coder around and could automate every thing like I do for myspace, and by automated, I mean automated. For myspace, hit go, and the program makes accounts, edits profiles, extracts up to date ids, sends messages,fr's. I basically just got my indians to work 24/7 on account creation, had about 20-30 isntances of the program spread across 6 dedicated's. The programs would run flawlessley 24/7 every day..

So, if your actually pulling with your method, hit me up, maybe we can work something out..

You're missing the gold here. Don't think, "how much are you making off this technique?" Think, "how many sites that I can monetize use captchas?"

This is a good technique, but as always, you have to think a bit like your victim...er... customer to get the best out of this.

How else could you use this?

Think about what people want:

Freebies (if you want my free report, just fill in this captcha)
Proxies (if you wanna be anonymous, just fill in this captcha)
Porn (if you want my pr0n, just fill in this captcha)
Discount (if you want 10% off my _insert_affiliate_product_01_here, fill in this captcha)
Help (if you want my coaching, fill in this captcha)
etc.
etc
etc

Ok, I'm giving away the store here, but since Nick opened up Pandora's Box, I might as well point out the rest of the goodies.

Oh, by the way, the way you do this is fairly simple: on every page you want to defeat a captcha (youtube, myspace, blogger...etc etc etc) there's a code snippet in the source that delivers the captcha to you. A good programmer can locate it and move it to YOUR page so your visitors see the captcha that you need solved.

Enjoy.

And good one Nick. Wish you hadn't put this one out there though. It's a definite keeper.

I was'nt asking how much he was making off the captcha entry, just the whole message/commenting with youtube, I came from myspace, moved on to watermarking (which works quite well). Been pondering the best way to tackle the messaging system/comment system and wondered if it would be profitable in my eyes.

The technique showed here is great, you always have to think outside the box. I may implement something like that for future projects. Free labor, and you wouldnt have to deal with greedy outsourcers whos "mother has cancer" and "dad cant afford rent" excuses to pry more money out of you.

Spammers have been using this technique for years now, its nothing new...
