Why there are so many service providers/companies with low quality work provided?

I'm not talking in special about seo providers who delivers that huge amounts of backlinks from spun articles or other seo mistake which they promise that "it works". Refund-policy being also a bullshit - 100% money back guarantee, which applies ONLY if they don't deliver at time but they do say that service gives results.

Anyway, not talking in special about this but let's take a look at business, as a general. Let's look at fitness trainers, brokers, dentists...

In today crisis days people have transformed to "JUST-give-me-your-money", 100% interested in their own benefit by not carrying about client satisfaction or the work provided.

What if an average person doesn't have 3000$ to go for a private dentist and it has just 500$. He will get robbed for sure by a low quality public dentist.

Even money can't get what you want in these days. How something like this can be possible? Quality has a price but even with that... where are the business ethics?

I'm talking as a service provider, company owner.

In recession, it is completely normal for people prioritising short-term results (cash) to long-term results (repeat clients) and that's the reason why many service providers choose not to make the investments necessary to provide a high-quality service, but rather want to maximise their profit margin on every deal they make.

You can't change the way the world's economy works. What you can do is only go to service providers that come highly recommended by someone you know and trust. In this economy the value of word-of-mouth marketing and recommendations is increasing rapidly, compared to traditional ads that quickly lose their credibility due to the reasons mentioned above.

That defeated mentality is what eats at ones morals. The world has become pessimistic because all they hear on the news is something bad being said because one group wants to say something bad about the other and there is plenty to say so they don't bother with any of the positive things going on.

There is much to be positive about if you are working hard. It never fails to move you forward. If you can't trust anyone in an entire industry then maybe you need to become the trusted one in that industry. Word gets around fast on good products. It gets around at lightspeed on bad ones.

Companies should make their rates bigger and provide a top-notch service rather than asking small prices and not being able to provide the right work.

I understand what you're talking about. People don't want to pay for quality work anymore.
It should be cheap and very high quality (the Fiverr phenomenon). It doesn't work like that, at least most times.

Kimi, you bring up a very good point about the way in which businesses treat their customers. I think for the larger players, big box stores, dominating phone providers or utility companies, because customer service is often times not correlated to be an income producing line item, these departments are the least empowered, even though they are the front line for customer assistance.

Last time I was in a Verizon store, the guy at the counter told me, yeah, I only sell the product, I can't actually help you service the problems you have. You will have to call the 800 number and get help. Floored!

The reason for this plight is a matter of shareholders requiring more from companies than they should be expected in terms of profits increasing year over year.

I will say that this mentality always breeds opportunity for small companies to come in and scoop up some market share.

Actually that happens a lot in online, not just here. Crazy is that bad services are everywhere in offline.

I don't really see what you're wondering about here.

So you find it confusing that a cheap service provides lousy results and lousy customer support ?

    What do you expect ?

To compliment your analogy with the dentist. You will always have a choice to pick the better dentist, there are better dentists out there. You're not forced to choose someone that will treat your teeth with a hammer drill. You not being able to afford it is something completely different.

A better analogy is a car. If you you only have 5 grand and want a car of course it'll be a pile of crap (more or less), but you do have the choice of buying a better car if you have the money.

There will always be providers that will deliver great results with a smile but those have a price and if you're claiming that they aren't out there you aren't looking hard enough.
