say you are using a monthly service that give u 100 links. if u canceled it and they remove those 100 links, what do you think would happen to your sites rankings?

most likely you would lose out on the original increase in rankings that the 100 links gave u, but is that it? or would ur site get penalized/slapped for a sudden big drop in links?

    what do u think?

Depending on the quality of those links, you can either have minimal effect done on your website or you can see a huge drop in your SERPs.

If those were the only links your site had, it's going to drop down for sure. There shouldn't be a penalty due to link loss. But rank drop is almost certain.

I've had a lower quantity of link loss (20 links at one time) but they were powerful links. The site did not drop. It was already on the first page and the user metrics were pretty good (low bounce rate, long time onsite etc). IMO Google's biggest ranking factor at the moment is user metrics. If the traffic likes the site, google have done their job and found a good fit for that search term. Therefore they should have no reason to drop your site's rankings. Think of links as as way to get you an interview with the first page, how you do in the interview and whether you get the job is up to your site.

Your rankings are sure to drop.

Can I ask how youre going to be losing so many links at once?

Did you buy them all from the same source?

You will lose link juice and your rankings may drop after a while. It doesnt happen quick, so try gaining more links than you lose over time.

You will most likely hold your rankings for a while and experience a drop much later in the future. Read up on link echoes if you want more info. I've only personally seen this effect happen with PBN and SAPE links though. Sometimes rankings hold for as long as 4 months, other times, it drops quicker.

Erm...penalty due to link loss? And rank drop almost certain? How about some real testing and not just assumptions?

Spot on here, in a way.

Depends on quality of links, but will probably affect your ranking for sure. Just monitor your rank and try replacing them.

Your rankings could drop, but that might not be for a while. It sometimes takes Google a few weeks to update their rankings following addition/removal of links.
