    Hi all.
Whenever I upload my video, I always upload it as private and play it once to make sure that there was no uploading error.
And then if there was no error, I changed it to 'public' and publish it.
However, I have this one video kept showing me an error message so I ended up watching that video 6 times in 'private' mode.
Is this OK or will I get punished for watching my video for 6 times?
    Thanks!

Nothing happens. It's common to upload a family video up and everyone in your home access it several times, just to give an example.

Don't worry kid nothing is going to happen. Technically you can watch your video a million times in a row and still nothing would happen, but of course YouTube will freeze your view count at 301 views to stop you from artificially inflating your views.

6 views is fine...just don't cross the 7 view threshold.

That just rings a bell on some strange situation I've been observed.
I noticed that my competitor mysterious gets around 300 views as soon as he uploads.
Come to think of it, he must have been watching his own videos for slightly less than 300 times and then let real views rolling in.
Is this kind of thing common?
Are most channel owners watching one's own video multiple times to get a initial basic boost?

No. Your competitor is simply using the unlisted method.

It's okay. You will not be penalized. This is simply YT counting your views.
