    Hey everyone,

I am currently having over 20 different hosting accounts including an hostgator server I kind of forgot about because I didn't use it for month..

Now I got several invoice overdue notices from Hostgator and I was asked to pay around 400$ for a server and another smaller plan, they suspended my account but thats no issue..

I could easily pay my invoice honestly, however I am just wondering what will happen if I just keep ignoring them ?

I don't like Hostgator anyways and hey why pay when I can spent the money elsewhere for expired domains or articles ;D

Has anyone done this before or what do you think they will do next ?

I didn't respond to their invoice overdue notices I got 2-3 weeks ago and they didn't contact me again so far..

Did HG sue people for that stuff in the past or do you thing they will just suspend and delete my account ?

I am not an US citizen and am living in Europe.

    Kind regards !

Even in the US they dont do anything. It would cost them far more than they would ever get to go after those payments so they just dont do anything

That's awesome! In that case, I won't pay my electric bill next month either :)

I don't endorse skipping out on bills but I can answer your question based on my own experience. I had an account at HG when I first decided to make a site. I gave up on my site. I never thought to cancel my account and just left it active. I owed like $100 I think and eventually it got suspended. When I wanted to make another site I didn't have $100 to pay my overdue invoices so I simply created a new account. They quickly noticed I already had an account in suspended status and as a result they also suspended my brand new account. I contacted customer service to see if I could work something out. THEY OFFERED TO CANCEL MY SUSPENDED, OVERDUE ACCOUNT SO I COULD CONTINUE TO USE MY BRAND NEW ACCOUNT. I said yes please. My old account got cancelled and I was able to use my new one without ever hearing of the old one again

My advice: Login to your billing account. Cancel your account. You will never hear from them again

DISCLAIMER: I believe this happened before the change of ownership thing so there is a chance they handle it differently now

They won't do anything. Just cancel and don't make any contact with them anymore.

Yeah youre fine. they wont do anything. even if you were in the US the worst they could do is send you to collections but most of these companies just terminate your service.

Hostgator has great customer service when you can get a hold of them.

The wait is certainly worth it to speak a representitive on the phone.

If I were you I'd do as the others said and just cancel my account. Just call and tell them you don't want to pay and to cancel the account. I'm sure they won't mind.

It's not like they've provided you with a service yet anyways. It's just a recurring payment. You're not legally required to pay them.

I don't know what they will do but if you have 20 hosting accounts I would guess a lot if not all of them are with HostGator's parent corporation and who knows maybe they will shut down all the other ones you have under EIG?

Wow thanks for your input guys !

I've just cancelled my account and we'll see what happens :p

I am mostly relying on european webhosting companies, so I guess this won't be an issue..

I remember when a friend of mine refused to pay HG. The HG sent hitman to eliminate him! :( R.I.P. my friend.

Why not just spend the 5 - 20 minutes it will to cancel your account with them? You've probably put that much effort and time into this thread! ;)

Hahaha I didn't expect this thread to become that ridicoulous in the first place :D

However I just got my reply from HostGator regarding my cancellation

So they really cancelled my account without even mentioning the invoice overdue or something
