What happens if I only build links...

...and hardly do anything else? Let`s say I`ve got a site I update with a new article a couple of times a week at most. What happens if I`m only focused at building inlinks to this site? No article subission or ANYTHING else, ONLY link building... Anyone here who knows?

Your PR will rise. I've got a parked domain that is now PR3 from 3 back links i sent it.

What about ranking on the search engines, how important is all the other stuff besides link building? All I`ve ever done is build links, and now I`m #4 for one of my keywords, while the site I sell for as an affiliate is #3.. Planning on beating them.
I just get confused with everything people say we gotta do to rank, while I`m gaining on #1 on a daily basis with link building only.

It shouldn't decrease your rankings. Lots of sites have content that hasn't been updated but that doesn't mean they are worth any less because of that.

Hmm that`s not what I`m asking, but this: how important is all the other stuff besides link building? Is it any way to rank the "importantness" of SEO methods?

Google will not index you without some form of keyword infused content. It need only be a single article. I would have a minimum of 2, however, as Google may dislike single page sites.

If you have this, then you can launch a linkbuilding program (there are a lot of different varieties) and your success should then depend on backlink building.
