my website has been hovering between 300-400 visits per day.

Around August 14, 2013, my website traffic dropped in half! Now I am only getting 90-100 visitors per day. Did Google do something or what??

Since most English forums did not report any changes, I think it may have been an international update. I can confirm some big changes around that time, still ongoing.

Have you seen SERP movement? Check to see if your niche is less popular, or if your site rank has slipped. Where do you usually get traffic from, only Google?

my top three traffic sources are (direct)/(none), pinterest.com/referral, google/organic

all three have dropped in half.

direct was around 90 and now 30 visits per ay.
pinterest was around 100 and now 20 visits per day.
google/organic was around 30-40 and is now 1-4 visits per day.

hmm, OK. Were you paying for traffic at any stage, or using traffic software like traffic twister?

Since the drop is across all referrers, it appears to be a problem with demand... is your niche temporal? (I.e. football scores, celebrity news).

Try stepping up your pinterest marketing to see if the numbers improve in the next few days.

Same date, August 14th. Could be a coincidence - are your referrers Google and pinterest too?

Yup, I experienced the same thing with my international website (10 foreign languages), from August 14 50% drop in traffic.

I agree with bartosimpsonio, since no one in English SEO forums and authority blogs said anything about change in SERPS starting August 14, it must be algorithmic update targeted for queries in foreign languages.

My main traffic source is Google, mostly from long tail KWs. Site is several months old and had healthy and constant traffic rise before that.

    Data from Webmaster tools:
    - no manual spam actions, no messages
    - majority of pages indexed and this number is still rising
    - no deindexed pages
    - number of queries decreasing every day

I don't have any other conclusion from all these facts, than - Google algorithmic update for foreign languages.

so you don't use pinterest? Check your serp stats for the keywords you used to get traffic for from Google. If there's no change, then it's probably a decrease in niche demand.

Well all of my traffic came from Google. Nothing from pinterest.

I have seen big shifts since the 21st as well. But it seems to have begun rolling out before they announced it.
