Everything has a price.
If you know how to do it, it can be cheap or even free. Otherwise, it can be pretty pricey.
This is no unnecessary expenses because we don't know what you are capable of.

Buying themes and plugins could be completely unnecessary when you are just starting out. To start a blog, all you need is a free theme something like Astra or GeneratePress will be enough. And there are great free alternatives to speed up your WordPress site as well. So don't spend money on anything that's not important yet. Yes, once your site goes big and starts yielding money, you can buy premium themes, plugins to do more things but buying them all when you are starting out isn't probably a good idea.

After the recent updates google has launched, relying on tools to target the most feasible keywords seems like a big waste and to some extent, backfiring. You pour in your content, link and other budgets right after you select the keywords. And relying on the wrong keyword ruins it all.

well hard tto say before, you only know after.
someonen buy backlink from same provider one got effect the other have no effect.
the problem it's sepsific to the site.
but depending on how you treat it, there is no such thing as complete waste, since you get experience from it
