Good UX and Strong Call To Action

Good UX: Consists of fast load times and content that is easy to digest and understand. You need to find a way to balance having enough content to rank in Google and prove your relevance, while also have your content to be easily navigated as a real person.

Strong Call To Action: If you're getting paid on click-to-call or from form submissions, or have any sort of conversion goals at all, you CTAs need to be prominent. The contrast of the buttons, the verbiage of your headlines (ie "call now!"), and their typography should be well thought out.

Combining UX and CTA: If you have forms make sure they're coded for good UX like mobile input types (see http://mobileinputtypes.com/). Make sure phone numbers can be clicked to call on mobile. Place CTA and conversions in multiple locations, ie at the top and bottom of the page, and maybe in between some pieces of content.

In the end, your landing pages should have something that provides value to the people that show up there. Rich media and informationally dense content, leading to your conversion points.

Thanks guys. Let me ask, would an infographic about 'Why you should hire a blahblah service" be good for landing pages, or is that better suited for home page?

    CTA should stand out first.

    Compelling sales pitch second.

Third, sprinkle it with persuasive, weasel, and power words. ;-)

    Hope that helps.

Yes, it can be. In fact, landing pages should contain information that captures visitor's attention. Make your objective clear, simple, and easy for them to understand what your page is all about and what do you want them to do. Add contents that are well-structured, less the navigation, and make the call-to-action clear as possible.

Appreciate it. Would it be better to put it on my home page, landing page, or both?

Also, I will be having about 50 landing pages as I serve 50 towns/cities. If i put the same infographic, but with different text content would this be bad to google?

    Both.

And that's a good idea. As long as you put different text content as you said then Google will see it as unique.

It's okay to use your infographic to your other site, but make sure that the title and content should be unique. You can hire someone to write a unique description for you if you don't have enough time to do it yourself. Submit your infographic to infographic directories, but also make sure to check it first whether it has a page rank, authority, or if it's not spammy, etc. Also, build quality backlinks to every infographic that you publish.

This is very hard to ansaw as the sales / landing page must represent, your whole business, but also sell your services , the page
must draw the person in and buy your services .....

I think the only way is to look at other business in your niche to see what works ,or your spend thousands in split testing ....

    Good luck

It like putting your whole business plan on paper ,but in a advertisement way ,to pull customers in ..

You can get templates, and fill them in , but to be honest ,ill look around what others are doing to entice sales...

You need to understand something , what works for someone business ,might never fit into your niche, so be very careful.

Well, it takes many things. Here are a few:

    1. Headline of the page
    2. Information delivered in the content
    3. Call to action used
    4. Offers used (if any)
    5. Internal Linking
    6. Navigation
    7. User Experience

These points matters a lot while designing a landing page.

I see that a few members have suggested using an infographic would be good for your landing page. Unless your service is directly targeted toward a data analyst, I'd rethink that. The average attention span for landing on any page for the first time is right at or below 5 seconds, you only have half of this time to even get them to think past hitting the back button.

Take some time to place yourself in the shoes of a customer or visitor landing on the page you are creating. What would garner your attention in such a short time period? A video? An image? Introduction?

Once that has been taken care of you should be able to fill in the rest. Using the information provided in this thread you are definitely of to the right start, though. Keep it up.

i think graphic matter most these days. get a good graphic designer to make the page.

search for your keyword on google and see if any adword ad that have similar landing page, study their title and writing and make similar one. (copy a proven winner)

    * check the ad copy on keywordspy.com to ensure the ad is already advertise for a long period of time, this mean they are converting

How about a landing page that well describes your service, tells your audience why your service is so great and why they should choose to use you instead of the competition?

A proper call-to-action and contact information to get in touch with you.
