I mean i like him, but those twitter api cost plan is just beyond crazy, anyone dealing with twitter api for data scraping related purposes?

My non profit business which ive just built for over 2 years just got destroyed by this, maybe trying to figure out a way to scrape via bots or waiting him to change his mind but current pricing plans are just way too high.

the 100$ one can't do shit and next one starts at 42k$ ... lul

I don't believe he will change it. Elon is trying an aggressive way to extract maximum profit from big companies.
I would suggest you to use some other solution like Selenium or reverse engineered API for scraping stuff. Selenium wouldn't be really stable, but reverse-API works good.
 
42k$ per month is not high ? delusional, that kills 99,99% of all twitter api applications

Depending on what the API allows you to do, $42K could be made in as little as a week or even a day.

Yes, depending on the poin of view. Huge money can be mage.
But, on average who uses API $100 is high price. ANd when you compare where some give API access for freee, $40k is a lot of money.

2. find twitter official api keys, not those from dev portal, but twitter's own keys, not hard, just search
3. imitate official clients, e.g. android device or iphone device
4. ....?
5. profit

its actually easier than you might think.

Elon doesn't care about you or your business. You're a small fish. You give nothing back to Twitter, he gains nothing from you, so he has no reason to make your life easier. Particularly when you probably wanna build tools that violate the TOS, which he is perfectly aware of and doing everything he can to try to stop. He's after the money of big companies that use Twitter API and can actually pay that type of money.

What libraries are you talking about? They pretty much all depend on the official API.

maybe you can ask about tweetshift what they did to save costs. It's a discord bot. I am subscribed to them and they were down for like 5 days after this api problem.
 
Twitter grew in popularity because of the third-party apps and tools.
A huge number have stated they will be closing down now.
Another nail in the coffin of Twitter.
 
What are you using the API for? I might be missing something here but if you're just scraping there's no reason you would need the API in the first place.

Im building a social media analysis platform which focus on crypto projects and potential frauds, also to have a much better overview on the crypto field kinda like a 2. layer

Anyway i guess will go chad mode then

An API might make it a little easier with built-in filters but I don't see why you couldn't accomplish what you'd need to without it. :)
 
yes i know its easily doable but my plan was to run a legitimate business which does not have to worry about getting banned or any sort of that stuff, im sick of botting and like to go the official route. But if twitter decide to fk small start ups who work on their project since years, then thats what they are going to receive
 
The pricing is stupid. Even enterprise APIs don't charge that much (let's say for example, fantasy sports api, crypto price ticker apis like cmc). Elon has gone crazy.

Just use the chad mode, and use selenium. If they start detecting selenium, do what you would do for facebook, reddit and so on.
 
Honestly i just hope that this is a mistake and elon didn't actually sign that pricing table

I dunno why it feels like his only goal is to bankrupt the company so that he doesn't have to pay the loan back or something (not sure about US laws). $42000/month is stupid. Seriously stupid! What do you get in return? Bunch of tesla tweets?

he have other big company, having a media company not to mention big social media , will be very big help on survey, taking data, or even help on manipulating stock price.
well first he need to remove all the bot or reduce it massively to ensure the data validity.
