What does notifications(on) do for gaining followers?

I see all these 'gain followers' type of tweets that say 'Turn on notifications' but why? How does that help you gain followers?

Also have had quite a few randoms DM me asking me to send them a screenshot to prove notifications is turned on. I don't get it.

Maybe it could improve the algorithm? In relation with the likes which will be received faster because of the notification and less people will miss the post.

A lot more people notice a follow, if there's a notification opposed to when there's none. Notification ghosting can really fuck with the followback rate.

Notifications on will ping you regardless of your notification settings, specifically for that user. It helps because they will absolutely get your attention instead of it being lost in your notifications feed (which is crazy on Twitter)

easy, once they post you get notification, you might like or comment on it and it will get higher on the explore page
