Google Analytics: Good but most people hate giving Google more data than they already have.

StatCounter: Good but I find it misses a lot of traffic details, like it says the "visit length" is not available for 90% of traffic.

    What do you use?

Google Analytics, Google can take any info they want so you can't even block them from having some, they can just like you more for using their products

Yeah, Google Analytics is already the best one. Why would you like to look for another one? This is proven and tested by many.

I've been using Yandex's Metrica for quite some time with great results. A very good GA alternative.

They also have free heatmaps but it's not the best on the market. But hey it's free ;)

GA. It is just the best free solution out there hands down. If you look at their premium product it is also a great offer and better(in my opinion) than sitecatalyst(oh and of course the same there applies YOUown the data, vs. Google does for the free version)
Either way, guess depends on the content of your site.

Because this is a black hat forum and if Google found out about certain things black hatters do, they would penalize the site.

hey, mate, this is surprisingly difficult in Google Analytics since hit-level segmentation is not possible (only visit and user level). If this is important, you need to combine the data into a single dimension.

While I have Piwik on few sites, I have Google Analytics on rest of the sites; for all black hat sites with links, I purely use Piwik to avoid having or giving Google any information. Rest of the legitimate sites; I purely use Google Analytics as they are best tracking and analytics tool available in the market right now.
