I was looking at some aged domains and I came across one that interested me. I've been trying to focus on learning keyword research since that seems to be a big part of being successful at IM. Since I'm a bit of a noob but am trying to learn how to do the work myself I was hoping some of you would offer an opinion on these stats.

There is an exact match .com domain available with a current bid of $12. Auction ends tomorrow.

Age: 2 years
Exact match monthly searches (global and local): 8,100
Aproximate CPC: $1.86
Adwords Competition: High
Exact match search in G: 97,700 results
# of result pages G shows for exact keyword: 43
inurl:"keyword": 240,000
intitle:"keyword": 246,000
both inurl and intitle: 4,750

I would want to put Adsense ads on this site as well as Amazon products that match the keyword. I'm working to learn how to be able to do my own keyword research but still don't quite know what to make of some of these numbers. The inurl and intitle numbers seem to be much higher than I would like which makes me wonder if it would be too hard to rank.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Ideally intitle:"keyword" & inurl:"keyword" would be each less than 30k. But, that's only one part of the equation. You'll also need to check out the on and off page SEO for the top 10 (or top 3, as this is where you should be aiming for) competing sites for that keyword. You can do this manually or use a tool like Market Samurai or Traffic Travis.

SEOWhizz, thanks for the reply and the link. I'm quite familiar with the link you posted, that has been my guide for doing research the last few days. It is one of the best threads I have found on keyword research on BHW. I will fire up Market Samurai when I get home and see what the competition looks like.

I don't do a lot of adsense stuff so maybe it's normal, but 8,100 exacts is 270 visitors a day. So if you're #1 you'll probably get roughly 120-135 visitors a day. So you'd be shooting for a couple clicks per day of well under $1 per click. So you have to decide if that's worth it, again, I don't do adsense so I'm not sure if that's normal.
But as above said, check the competition of the top 3-5 and see what their links are like and if they are even targeting that keyword.

Thanks, I think Market Samurai will probably help me make the decision. You may be right about the Adsense alone not being worth the effort. If I could convert some Amazon products too then that could help.
