I am silo'ing my website. This is the first time ever and it's kind of confusing tbh.
I'd like to get some expert advice on this just to make sure i'm setting this up properly. Attaching an image below
    Screenshot (13).png
I'd like to draw your attention to a few things before I get started with my doubts.
1)Website has 3 Main Silo/Categories along with the Contact page,About Us and Privacy Policy.
2)The very first Silo/Category has around 25 subcategories.
3)Each subcategory in the first silo has 3-5 posts.
4)Some of the post appear in two different subcategories.
    5) If I'm not mistaken this makes the structure 3 levels deep.

    Over to my doubts now.
1)Is it okay to have these many subcategories in the first Silo?
The other 2 silos hardly have 2-3 subcategories. I could probably combine many of the subcategories from the 1st silo into one but that'll add an additional level into the whole structure. And I've heard that its best not to go over 3 levels.

2)Is it okay to have a same post in multiple subcategories?
Lets say for example I have two subcategories which are "Pink shoes" and "Womens Shoes" and a post "Nike xyz review" which appears in both the subcategories.

3)Is it okay to use menus when implementing silo? When I took a look at a few sites implementing silo structure almost all of them forego menus. Doesn't this make it hard for the user to navigate through the website.

That's it for now. I know it's a bit confusing but I hope you guys get what I'm trying to ask here.
Tons of question in my mind right now but I'll keep them for later as I don't want to overwhelm you'll.

    Thank you :)

Also, I'd appreciate if someone could guide me to a tutorial of how to setup a proper silo on wordpress.
I read Bruce Clays guide and a lot of threads here on BHW but the whole concept still seems to elude me.
Pardon me, I'm not very technically savvy and would prefer something that explains things in layman terms

    Thanks again

You say a post cannot appear in two different subcategories. So should I make the post only in one category even though it fits in other category as well ?

    Yes,I can.
So i have to make tags similar to my subcategories. Will this mess with the silo structure?

The silo architecture is about not leaking PR.

Main page > sub page > sub page

    This is the idea.

A lot of people get this wrong, and subpages have more PR than the main page. So folks complain about their main page not showing up on the SERPs.

THAT is what you're aiming for with a silo structure.

Having tags is useful, provided you don't create 100 thousand links to some internal page and you no longer have a hierarchy.

That's not entirely true. The main reason to silo is to provide relevance for your search terms with the supporting content. This is also the reason why you should never interlink different silo's since it dilutes the relevance of the subject themes.

OP, all you need to know about siloing is written here. It's by far the best guide out there http://www.bruceclay.com/eu/seo/silo.htm

Is the link juice supposed to flow from ground up ? Or is it the other way round ?
If it flows form subpages to the main page then should we try to rank Long Tails first so the the main keyword on the main page will be easier to rank ?

A couple things to be careful of when silo-ing your wordpress install:

You are going to have to balance pure pagerank (or trust flow or whatever metric you want to look at) manipulation by restricting navigation to one page only with users being able to navigate your site.

So yes, you can use menus to aid navigation. But no, do not put every one of your 476 pages in the menu. That's bleeding your theme and diluting your link juice into nothing.

Amazon is a (roughly) silo website. When you are in Health & Personal Care > Medical Supplies & Equipment > Mobility & Daily Living Aids > Bathroom Safety, Aids & Accessories > Rinse-Free Cleansers & Wipes you are not going to see links for auto parts. But you will see a link to the heads of the other categories.

You can interlink content where it makes sense, but recognize that every additional link you put on a page will dilute your link juice. That might be OK or it might not depending on what you are trying to do.

And OP, if you have 25 subpages in one silo and 2 in another, your should just make a site about the first silo.

Learning from this thread myself, silo seems to have its own advantages.

I am thinking of dong the same.
Another thing I thought of is instead of making 2 Silo with 25 and 2 subpages respectively I'll just make 26 Silos instead (25 which were subpages earlier and the already existing one.)

The only things thats bothering me is a lot of my subpages can be included in multiple Silo. Since Bartosimsonio said this cannot be done in a Silo I am finding it difficult to redesign the whole structure.
