Almost all the sites I work on are ecommerce sites where I don't have control of the on page elements. In the good old days I just built backlinks with AMR for the right keyword and that was the work done.

Obviously now that isn't going to work so my new strategy is to build a blogger blog with the main keyword I want to rank for in the blog title. I will then write an article on this main keyword and create a anchor link also for the main keyword going to the ecommerce site I want to rank. The way I plan to rank the main blog post is by creating other posts in the same blog for related keywords and then internally linking them back to the main post. I also plan to do some social sharing for the main post.

I'm looking for constructive criticism on this method - how could it be improved and why it will/won't work.

you cant expect to rank a site only by using 1 bloger with some post on it, the idea of the
web 2.0 mite be ok but you will need more then 1 to se any results plus more backlink tipes
social bookmarks, forum post, wikis, forum profiles, plus you can use private blog post ect. ect.
and for the web 2.0 or wat is your bloger blog dont create 10 of them with the same anchor text, keyword and subdomain name make it look random for example, pepitos-blog dot blogspot, com and the next something diferent.
