I am just doing keyword research and there are some "cost" keywords that get a lot of traffic.
    like "laser hair removal cost"
    "breast implant cost"
    are "cost" keywords any good?

Well, for example "laser hair removal cost" looks like a pretty competitive keyword and all the .org .com .net domains are taken for it. Pretty decent traffic too. I think you could show prices and redirect to local businesses for a fee?

What I like to do is if I get a domain is have my page title be:

    1. Best X
    2. X Guide
    3. Best X Guide
and other combinations. I focus on getting X targeted but I passively get the other combos traffic!

I always wondered the same thing with these types of keywords. I had some keywords for my niche and the keywords that had "expensive" in them actually had lower CPC then the keywords that had "cheap" in them.

Cost is a buying term, but they are probably only browsing based on price

    Forgot to add:

Another favorite keyword modifier for me is "Review". You can design a sweet landing page with a positive review and a redirect to buy through your link, it works amazing.

I`ve also found out that adding a link anchored like 'buy through this link and get 5.95 off' helps to improve conversions even though the user is going to get the same price...just don`t forget to mention that the cost is x+5.95.
