I have never really tried CPA/PPD, so I wanna give it a try. I started by doing a keyword research using Adwords tool and I got these keywords:

KW1 Global Monthly Searches 9,900 - Local Monthly Searches 2,900
KW2 Global Monthly Searches 8,100 - Local Monthly Searches 3,600

    Both are "EXACT"
The thing is that I have no idea how to check the competition, I don't have any other tools. On page 1 what I see is wikipedia, amazon, maybe 2 sites dedicated to the global niche for this keyword, some other sites and that's it.

So any opinions, suggestions? Especially how do I check the competition level of those keywords?

If it's some kind of authority website in the top 3, it'll be a little more difficult to overtake the spot.

To check competition, you should check out the back-link profile, DA/PA, PR, etc of the competing pages. You should at least get a basic idea of how "authoritative" those sites are in your niche.

You could analyze the competitive keywords in Google AdWords Keyword Tool. It is awesome for keyword research and I might say - the most precise one!

Sign up for trial of market samurai and you can check competition easily. Most software offer free trial and that should suffice for your needs.

Check the backlinks on the dedicated sites, that will give you an idea of their strength. Wikipedia and amazon should be ok to beat with appropriate backlinks

if it's your first try don't do it. spend some more time and find a better keyword - type the existing keyword on google and see what are the suggestions afterwards (so just add one more word after it). Find something that doesn't have wikipedia or amazon on the first page and then go ahead, even if the number of searches is lower. you will get traffic from other keywords anyway.

even if you want to take my advice or not, just go ahead and do it. the best way to learn is by doing it.
