So went out hiking in some foothills around MT Hood today, found some Reishi mushrooms growing. Considering these mushrooms have been harvested and used as one of the most powerful medicinal teas, I had to harvest some myself...

The ancient Egyptians used to call this the mushroom of eternal life. Even today, they give this mushroom too aids and cancer patients, as well to people with serious immune system issues. This mushroom was found in studies to not just "BOOST THE IMMUNE SYSTEM", but to also act as an immune system stabilizer. You can read more about medicinal benefits here: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-suppl...-reishi mushroom.aspx?activeingredientid=905&

This is what a reishi mushroom looks like.

Not sure how many BHW brothers are into mushroom hunting or posts like this, but maybe some of you might find this interesting and at least maybe I can encourage someone to perhaps try this mushroom out if you are sick or having serious immune system issues. Here is a pretty cool video about it for those interested.

Nice... I still haven't been lucky enough to find a lions mane yet. I can't wait until I do. Did you grow it from a clone or something?

I found this pretty little Coral Mushroom today too.

I bought one of those grow kits. It is the ideal season to grow now otherwose New Delhi is too hot for it during the summers.

I also have ashwagandha growing on my farms. Not a shroom, but its a pretty good brain adaptogen and I get it pure and organic. The botanical name is withania somnifera.
In some research papers, it is even show to have neural regenaration capabilities.

Wow, that is impressive. I have heard a lot of stories about its healing power. You can make a tea of reishi, turkey tail and chaga (all mushrooms), which I have heard there have been some reported cases of it actually causing cancer remission.

If you go to the Chinese health shops, you can probably find some. The Chinese developed a whole system of stewardship for this mushroom.

Yeah Ashwagandha is a solid adaptogen . Bacopa Monnieri is another good one . I would recommend Bacopa. It takes a while of consistent use for the memory benefits , but the adaptogen stress relief is pretty much instant .
OP you been to the hoh rainforest too? That shit is dope haha

I'm pretty sure I had to collect 100 of these in Skyrim once. It took me hours. I only got a crappy iron shield for all my efforts.

Not yet. I was going to go up to the Olympic forest this past August for a week back packing trip, but my buddy I was going with ended up not being able to go, so it was rescheduled till next year. I would love going up there shroom hunting though. Ive heard thats the place to go to find GIGANTIC mushrooms in Old growth. Are you in Washington?

I like to look at mushrooms. I think they're pretty. That little coral mushroom you found is gorgeous.

    But eating/harvesting them? Nah.

I have plenty of woods around here but I'm paranoid about picking something I think is edible and it turns out to be deadly. So I just take pics of them and smile, then keep going.

    That's a pretty awesome find though. :)

Yeah, One should never just pick and eat mushrooms, unless they know what they are doing and can safely identify the mushroom with 100% certainty. Even mushrooms that may look like something in stores have look a likes that can be deadly. Always best to go with someone that is experienced and knows what they are doing, else you may end up turning your liver to soup.

Below is a picture of death. Its often called the death cap or Death Angel. It looks similar to many other mushrooms too. But if you ate this mushroom below, your liver would turn to soup and you would die within a week.
