I know of a few kick ass autoresponder sequences in my niche who obviously know a thing or 2 about copywriting. Could I just use them word for word as my own? Could you get in trouble with copyright or something? What are the chances they would find out?

For starters, you can change your nickname to smallballin6161.

Then copy the text and change a few things here and there...

I'm pretty sure for the big players in major niches, their content including auto-responder material is copyrighted. If you want to copy word for word, then you're taking a risk IMHO. Better to create your own style by learning from these guys.

You can't use it word for word as it's against copyright law, but if you change 10% of the original text then the copyright belongs to you. It might be challenged, but you won't be sued because it's changed enough to be considered to be a new piece.

i've personally never seen any marketing material that i felt i could not improve myself. i like to use their ideas for inspiration, then use my own voice. i find this works a lot better.

Just do what most copywriters like myself do, use it as a swipe file and learn from it. Then go create something even more epic in your niche and stack that paper.
