Assume that I've written a great article that solves all the world's problem... It is optimized with all the proper on-page SEO elements... what are your steps after you hit publish?

I usually post it on our company FB page and send a tweet at some of our influencers. I'm interested in hearing what else you do at this point? Does anyone post it on Reddit or stumbleupon? Does anyone write and distribute a press release?

It depends on what your goal is:

    1. Traffic - If you just want traffic I would use Facebook ads and Outbrain to promote the content.

    2. SEO - If you are looking for white hat backlinks what I would do is this:

    - Look up all the people who linked to similar content
    - Contact them and tell them you have a piece that is similar but is different for XYZ reasons and that you thought they and their readers might be interested.

I would also set up a Google alert for that keyword and post the link on any other relevant pages comments (not spamming).

    Hope that helps

Publish the best articles to your blog only. Then generate traffic toward your blog and capture them as your leads. And also generate backlinks toward each blog post (with the article).

Hmm !! Press Release great way to get traffic. But, I recommend to you create spark content and publish your corporate blogs and get traffic and build backlink too.

Think to myself, that wasn't so hard, why don't I write more often?

(It takes a great deal of motivation for me to get started, but once I do it's pretty simple. I don't know why...)

But to answer your question, articles get published on my sites.

It solves all the world's problem, you say? Well, first I would publish a manifesto featuring content from the article. I would then generate a large following by propagating my ideas to the general public through social media and the press. Once I have an extremely large number of followers, I would convince my followers to migrate to my new colony, which would probably have to be Antarctica (you did say it solves all the worlds problems, and Antarctica being difficult to colonise is a problem). Once there, I will form a new world superpower which will be know as Antmarketa and my denizens will refer to my as Pravitel, and I will control all of the marketing in the world (cue the maniacal laughter)!

However, this is all just a fanciful story conjured up by my amusingly vivid imagination.

As for what I really do once I finish an article, I usually just post it to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and my many Google+ accounts. I know, it sounds lackadaisical after what I just wrote above.

I'd probably share it via social media. It's amazing how it can sometimes work like this:

You share via social media > people share it even further afield > it gets added by people on blogs and forums > you get backlinks + social signals
