    Hi everybody,

I need your advice/help. I run several websites on WP basis, they are travel blogs. I optimize the site to a keyword, and every blog post is optimized with a different keyword ( I use Yoast). All my Keywords are very low competition and I get the posts indexed quickly but I do not get good ranks. What do I wrong?

    My site structure is: domain.name/KWforsite1/
    domain.name/KWforsite2/
All different sites are under the same domain, age 1 year.

The blog posts are optimized also, but the keyword for each blog post is different to the site's KW.

    I.e. Site 1:
    main Keyword: lets say "overland"
post 1 KW: Moremi competition low 720 global (monthly), 480 local US, CPC 2.75$ - indexed but not in the first 1000 rank
post 2 KW: shoeshine competion low 2400 global 400 local US. CPC 1.17$ - indexed but not in the first 1000 rank
post 3 KW Chyulu hills competition low 260 global 56 local US, CPC 0.10 - Rank 85
post 4 KW: Nile Confluence competion low 22 global 12 local, CPC 0.10 - Rank 3
    total about 500 posts.

and that goes on like that. What do I wrong? I do some backlinking. The sites have around 1200 backlinks, some posts have backlinks as well, but I do not know how many, no idea how to check it.

    Any idea and help appreciated!!!
    thx
    Eric

Based on what you described above, it sounds like you have barely done any on-site or off-site SEO.

On site seo is much more then just putting keywords in your permalinks and keyword optimizing your articles. I suggest you research a lot more about On-Page SEO.

As for off page seo, it is not as simple as just building a couple thousand links. Link building is strategic. You need to diversify your backlinks and create an actual strategy.

I suggest you read A LOT of different posts on this site that talk about both on page and off page SEO. Be thorough.

    thx,

with the onpage seo I use the yoast plug in. I otimize every post as long as I got the green dot in every position of the Yoast.
    Image (alt)
    title
    description
    links and so on
    KW density ...

So when it comes to the results of Yoasts page analyses, they seem to be ok.

Also, look at things like load time, bounce rate, average time on site, etc...

Also, analyze your offsite SEO as that is probably your biggest weakness in this case

Bounce rates are between 80% and 40%. About 70% are new visitors and 30% returning

I would ad a Google map to each post with location of the place described. This helps a lot for local searches.

Theres nothing wrong with Yoast, if you are getting green per post then its mostly good..Have you got Yoast set up 100% and your permalinks in a http://yourdomain/sample-post/ Structure.. There are some good you tube videos to help you with yoast...use wp super cache to speed load times(theres other methods cdn etc which you can find in the forums... I have travel sites they are all over the first page..when I set out a project I aim to rank for one keyword first then I expand....so take one of your keywords"chyulu hills" I will analyse and see which ones I can crack first, maybe "chyulu hills winter weather" once Ive hit page one for a term I find it easier to rank for "chyulu hills summer" etc moving on to car hire, spa resorts etc etc. I dont care about panda, penguin porcupine etc...you can never have enough backlinks .. I would be adding links monthly from every possible source.. I avoid crap and porn but you need low grade links as well as high , I also want no follow as well as do follow...what about facebook and twitter ?? those 500 posts need to get turned into articles and submitted... Personally if I had a 500 post site that want on page one I would cry...With the figures you have there at the moment I would either go aggressive for a month and see if I can really backlink the site pronto or I would scrap the site and take the content I have to restart with 4-5 microniche sites built around the same idea but much more targeted.

I will suggest you, use unique content and some work "On Page" like should be use Meta description in 150-160 char, 10 keyword and title in 68 char and then start some Off page work.

thx a lot for your input. My structure is http://domain/26/5/12/posttitle/.
I do not have super cache - will try that.
I always submit a new post to twitter, facebook, and stumbleupon

Could it be my .biz domain?

    thx
    Eric

first of all on-page optimization is must..used proper content, keyword, title, meta keywords in a proper manner.

after that use proper plan of off-page activity. and check your website using webmaster tool.webmaster tool describe complete website errors like duplicate title, description, short meta description, long meta description and all that.

Are you building backlinks via anchor texts? Or random links to your site's URL?

Honestly the best thing you can do for yourself is pick up a copy of Spyglass and spend an entire day reverse engineering #1 ranked sites for their backlinks and studying where they're getting links from. It beats a million pages of theory from "gurus" as these are the links that are actually getting the job done in real life. That's what I did and it expedited my SEO knowledge by 100x.
