That was a very old post. At least 10k new members would have joined in BHW after that post. So, we will get fresh replies now.

I built mine earlier this year. Since changed to an 850W power supply as had issues with the other that came faulty & this was available locally. Also upgraded with another 2x8GB Corsair DDDR4 for the sake of using up the slots:

I am considering the i9 + a liquid CPU cooler.

Hello friend in my subjective opinion I recommend buying a table PC if you want performance and economy in a certain way. But we are going to take certain points so that you keep in mind what happens.
1) Laptops are somehow worth the same or a little more than a desktop PC, their performance is usually always going to be lower than that of a PC for cooling, size and weight issues. One of its disadvantages is that laptop spare parts are more difficult to obtain or, if necessary, more expensive than those of desktop computers.

2) Table PCs have problems as their source of power and do not maintain the ease of mobility a laptop has.

It all depends on what you decide partner but if you want performance the best thing is a table pc if you expect not to move with her to do work in other places, instead if you want comfort you could opt for a laptop.

As I have told you, it is my subjective opinion of what I live here in my country Venezuela and what I have measured over time I have learned by seeing a post of varied sales in my city and abroad.

If you’re in an office get a pc. If you’re out and about, get a laptop. If it’s a mixture, get both if you can afford it or if you can’t, get a laptop, docking station and a screen so that you can dock when you’re in the office and take advantage of bigger screen, keyboard and mouse.

Personally I have a custom built pc in the office and a hp pro book with built in 4g card for when I’m out of the office.

Here's my little set up:

Can't vote but I would pick desktop
I like to keep things simple :):)

Personally, I'm rocking the Lenovo Y540. it's a great 15" allround device. I primarily use it for work (web development), hobby (video editing / graphic design) and some gaming with my friends.
Somewhat heavy and battery life isn't too great but price/performance wise it was the best deal I could find.
Laptops have really become super powerful in the last year. They aren't too far behind when it comes to gaming performance compared to PCs. With my GTX 1660 Ti I'm getting about the same fps as desktop users with GTX 1070, night and day difference compared to my old Acer which only had a GTX 950mobile graphics card.

Xeon desktop (for botting), Ryzen desktop (video editing, programming and daily driver) and Lenovo i7 Laptop (mobile use) are devices that I daily use

I apologize. Seeing the replies and machines is amazing.

Kinda same discarding the video card, power supply, sound card, case fan and processor :)

a pc with 2 screens - 32gb ram and 3tb storage (i7)
win10 and ubuntu both installed
I am guessing extendable to 64 GB RAM?

Is 64 GB really required or should go with the current 32GB only?
