hello pals, I have been doing keyword research for days now and the only exact match domains on few good keywords I could find are .info and .net . I read a guide sometime ago which advice to stay away from .info domains. What do you think? are .info domains good? how about some suffix like my-domain-guide.com..... what is your views?
sorry for the noob question. Please share..... Thanks

I always prefer non hyphenated urls but I would do it for a .com over an EMD.info. I'm not fond of .info domains although I can't really explain why..

There is much hype surrounding the all mighty .com extension. I have domains that are .com, .net, .org, and .info and for the life of me I can't see any adverse actions as regarding the extension.

For sites that are information related in it's context a .info seems to be a logical extension to use. Think information on insurance, cancer, diabetes, HIV, or whatever.

obamaforpresident.info should surely rank in the top three with little work. It's all in the site not the extension.

I see ALL kinds of extensions rank nowadays (Yes including the irregular ones like .co and .me)

.com seems to mainly hold weight when it comes to word of mouth. we all grew up on .com and its comforting to see it. However, when you are searching for something online with effort people tend to go by ranking over TLD naming because of the sheer number of sites online now.

As long as it has your exact keyword/keyword phrase then you are fine. the naming extension doesn't effect ranking just personal preference when people see/hear it that's all.

Recently i have thrown many websites on similar niches similar page designs . i had mixture of .com , .us and .infos domains and from what i see .infos are ranking as good as the other .com and .us , so i dont believe when other says that .info cant rank. the only disadvantage on using .info i believe is people dont often remember .info extension and they try .com instead and get landed to some other website.

That is a mindset that is quickly going away. The younger demographic on the net today didn't grow up in the .com heyday.

The only thing you need to realize is that dot coms are important because this is what people will generally type in when they're looking for a web site.

However you are going to find that .info and .net websites can end up ranking in the search engines just as easily as a .com.

Not really, look at this from this point of view, I know the biggest hip hop forum on the internet (has nothing to do with information), and their ranking # on google for multiple keywords.

It's all on the site and not on the extension.

What about .in and .co.uk domains? Will they rank for US and Canada traffic? Will Google give more value to .com or .net and .org

For me all of the domains are just same. But .info domains are cheap. so if you think you can run .info then just go for it. its totally OK.

I been purchasing a lot of .info domains for testing and honestly they can be slightly harder to catch on but it rarely is worse than .com,to most people no one seems to care.
