    Hey everyone:

** Quick side note -- I am running a startup that has a mobile app on iOS and Android.

Currently we have around 1000 and 10 paying brick-and-mortar locations downloads. I am also around 8 months into this venture and am on the brink of closing a decent investment to scale outside of my city.

I recently acquired a team of 3 college students for the summer to do online and offline promotion.

I am looking to write-up a quick guide for them to get started on a few things online.

    Such as:
Engaging with us on social media -
Sharing our company website and the direct download pages for the app.
Posting in local forums and on blogs with our companies website linked with some anchor text in their signature.
Doing community outreach at their universities to try and get us on a few e-mail blasts.
Posting pictures of themselves using the app / their friends using the app.

I would love some help to add to this list so I can get the most effect out of this team.

Could you tell us kind of app yours is? who is your target audience? without such thing its go vague to help you.

Target online communities for your target audience like for gaming apps your target could be gaming forum, online groups, social networks.

I would say that you need straight up marketing and not black-hat SEO. That being said, there are a number of people on here that offer article placements/links from large newspapers and publishers, have a look for a guy called 'Netmoney' I believe (don't quote me on that - apologies to him if I'm wrong) but expect to pay money.

Personally I would go for the local press angle. In my experience local press love a local success story, go for that angle. Find out who covers the business section in your local paper and get in touch with them, don't leave it just to an email either, call and try to arrange a meeting, talk to them via social media...basically hound them.

I know of an app story that got coverage in the local press, gained traction and got picked up by a major newspaper site making him a millionaire in a just over a week. He had a pretty unique app that was meant for the masses but that's what you should shoot for.

Don't expect journalists to do you any favours though, my experience of journalists is that they're lazy...you need to create the story and hand it to them almost done. Perhaps the angle of 'local app creator makes X business a success' or 'local app creator of X takes set to take businesses by storm' - those are lame but I don't know what your app does, basically make it captivating and creative.

Next I would get down to local business meetups in whatever form they come, I know you've hired people but they won't be passionate about your app, they're passionate about your money. Go yourself, talk to people, just talk and don't sell, be curious and ask questions build trust and they're far more likely to download your app. Just get yourself out there. As you get more money maybe you can pay someone to do this for you but go to as many as you can yourself (if you are able to).

    Just a few ideas.
