I have a close friend working at a big Media company willing to share their publishers and advertisers for free? I have been lurking around too long and now I really want to get active and get started in this industry.

    What?

Unless you have something of value to offer or a platform to bring customers to offers you have nothing. Access to a list of publishers isn't that valuable unless you can provide offers for promotion across their publishing properties. The same holds true for a list of advertisers. Unless you have a place for them to put their ads you don't have much of anything.

So either you could attempt to broker some deals between these people, or perhaps you could market to them directly if you had a product/service that might appeal to either demographic customer base(publishers vs. advertisers). You could perhaps develop or create some sort of network with this information, or you might be able to attempt to sell the information to some third party. However, each of these scenarios requires certain skills I wonder if you possess.

I actually don't understand this question, and wish you could provide context for what types of answers you were thinking people might provide. I must be thinking about it all wrong, because it just seems like you asked how you could create a productive revenue stream from free access to a list of publishers and advertisers. It's just not that valuable in my opinion unless you already know what to do with the information. A person with limited experience brokering deals might not be best suited for negotiating deals, and someone with limited experience making money online might not be the best person to start a CPA or other Ad Network, so I'm baffled to know what you thought you might be able to do with this "list" of publishers and advertisers.

I hope someone comes along with a better answer than mine. Maybe they'll at least understand the question.

You can JV with someone and act as a bridge between supply and demand. Find someone who can benefit from the resource you have access to and charge them a pretty penny for it. Basically all the work you'll be doing is getting someone interested.

Thank you for your input. Yes, I don't know much at the moment but I have a general idea of how to make money online as I am starting completely new. I just wanted to know exactly what you stated, how will I be able monetize this opportunity and what sort of value it holds. Generally, the company my friend works at charges publishers to match them with advertisers and they pretty much middleman and take a percentage out of what they pay the advertiser based on performance. We are planning to do a joint venture and either just advertise the offers ourselves initially, but I'm just inquiring on what else can I really do

Alright, now that is well formulated, and much better actually. Now we have a better frame of reference for your original query.

I do believe the joint venture with the slightly more experienced partner can be a great investment of your time and energy because they likely possess the right skillset needed to facilitate your mutual roles as brokers. So you will be able to model your negotiation strategies, sales process utilization, etc... after your partner. You guys can definitely make a lot of money playing the middle man, and it's one of the oldest methods of making money. Bring the buyers and sellers together, and create the table where they meet and you can easily squeeze out a very healthy living. So I didn't mean to imply there wasn't any value in what you had access to. I just wanted to clarify that you needed a real-world based model of what to do with the information.

The fact is you do have what you need, so now you guys need to build that central marketplace or repository where you can start to "acquire" your own customers. Now as someone who is not entirely unfamiliar with the process of pillaging, let me forewarn you that your friends employer may not be so pleasant unless he/she has granted express consent for you guys to broker some independent deals. In that case it is OK, but if you pillage these customers it has consequences both legal and repercussive unforeseen, so just be prepared for anything that might come up.

It's a great business model actually in the way you have framed it, and while there are other ways to monetize the information ... this is definitely the most obvious and one of the easiest to implement. You just need a website, some outreach efforts(business to business) in the form of calls, letters, or emails, and solid scripts to follow.

There may even be some useable templates for email copy lying around in the depths of the BHW vault(search). You'll find good adaptable copy for sure. Good luck with your efforts!

Just snitching from a list of publishers and advertisers can get you into trouble.
